Two great weeks!

Sorry about last week but hopefully I can write everything today!

I am writing for 2 weeks! I hope I remember everything, but like I said I’m training! My new companion is Elder Scarber from Arizona. It has honestly been a really great 2 weeks! I feel like we are both learning from each other! Elder Scarber is a great missionary already and he already speaks good Spanish so that just makes it better. It is weird how I’m honestly with someone who doesn’t know exactly how to teach and how to be a missionary but Elder Scarber is picking things up fast. He is humble and has a desire to learn so that’s awesome.

We work out great together it’s just kind of weird cause I have to explain pretty much everything! jaja But we had a good 2 weeks, the weather was kind of cold but we were fine. For me personally, being a trainer is a blessing! It’s great to just be able to focus on the basics again and I kind of like teaching "alone" sometimes, it’s comforting. jajaja! It is a little hard at times but honestly training has been a great experience! It’s really humbling and it’s a great opportunity to just learn a lot. I’ve learned to much from these past 2 weeks and I’m excited to keep going for 10 more! jaja Me and Elder Scarber are already great friends too so we get along great!

Our investigators are doing great! We had a baptism yesterday so that’s a huge blessing! And we are having more people progressing as well! We found new investigators this week so if you could pray for Sergio, Marcela, Camila, y Alejandra that would be awesome! Thank you so much!

Something that I was thinking about a lot this week is this one quote by Elder Holland when he shares about when he was younger, "Don't you quit. You keep walking. Don’t give up, boy. Don’t you quit. You keep walking. You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead—a lot of it – You keep your chin up. It will be all right in the end. Trust God and believe in good things to come". He said in a general conference, like in 1999 I think. (Link HERE)

I really love this quote because it’s true. We shouldn’t ever give up, especially if we are missionaries in our areas. As missionaries, we are assigned an area and we are literally the only missionaries who have the opportunity to receive revelation for our area. If we are not obedient, willing to work hard, etc. then the opportunities we have will just fly by every day. We need to keep working and never give up or give in when it gets hard. That’s something that is true for the mission and for real life as well. If we give up then we will never reach the potential that our Father in Heaven knows we have! I know that God has a plan for each one of us, we just have to do our part and we will be blessed. 

Whenever I’m having a hard time working or when everything is falling through, I like to think about one thing. It’s just an example that I think about that’s like this:

Imagine if my area, like the area in my mission (or like our jobs, lives, etc.) was like an empty glass. Every single step we take, every contact we do, every invitation we give is adding a droplet of water to that glass. If we keep going even when we are having a hard time, when we feel like we aren’t getting blessed, our glass will keep filling up little by little. After all that hard work, when the glass gets full, when we’ve done everything we possibly can to fill it up, that’s when we are blessed. That’s when we start filling up another cup, and another cup.

And on the mission, a full "cup" could mean a baptism, it could mean meeting one person who is interested in our message, it could even mean one great lunch! jaja But this applies to life as well. We just have to keep moving, keep progressing, and every single thing we do is adding up, is filling up that glass.

I believe this is a great analogy that really makes me think, and really drives me to do more every time someone rejects our message, screams at us, tells us to leave, because at the end of it all, it all comes down to our personal testimonies. not the testimonies of our parents or of our friends, but our personal testimonies. I just want to finish with mine, that yes, lots of bad things happen, lots of people reject us in the mission and in real life, sometimes all our plans just fall through, but if we can keep going, if we can keep growing our faith and desire to serve Christ, if we keep putting God first before anyone else, we will be blessed.

This is a great testimony I have learned and gotten on my mission. I know that if we put our trust in Heavenly Father, He will bless us. We just have to remember that it’s not in our time, but it’s in His time. 

I’m days to reach a year into my mission, and that’s sad to think about. That I only have another year left... so Enjoy your missions! And enjoy life! Like I am right now!

And my scripture for the week is D&C 19:15-19:

15 Therefore I command you to repent—repent, lest I smite you by the rod of my mouth, and by my wrath, and by my anger, and your sufferings be sore—how sore you know not, how exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not.

 16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;

 17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;

 18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—

 19 Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.

I love these scriptures, because it’s Jesus who is talking, and honestly it makes us think, because it’s true. We don’t know what it was like. He says that even that our sins caused him,  “I, God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain..." but in these scriptures we can see and feel the love that Jesus has for us when he tells us to repent. Yes, it’s a little bold, but it’s simple too. Repent, and be more like Jesus. It’s beautiful, I love it!

Desculpe sobre a semana passada, mas espero que eu possa escrever tudo hoje!

Estou escrevendo por 2 semanas! Espero que eu me lembre de tudo, mas como eu disse eu estou treinando! Meu novo companheiro é Elder Scarber do Arizona. Foi honestamente realmente duas ótimas semanas! Eu sinto que estamos ambos aprendendo um com o outro! Elder Scarber é um grande missionário e ele já fala bem espanhol o que só torna tudo melhor.

É estranho como eu preciso ensinar a alguém que não sabe exatamente como ensinar e como ser um missionário, mas Elder Scarber está aprendendo as coisas rápido. Ele é humilde e tem o desejo de aprender de forma que é incrível.

Nós trabalhamos muito bem juntos é apenas um pouco estranho pra mim ter que explicar tudo o que fazemos direitinho! jaja Mas tivemos duas boas semanas, o clima estava bem frio, mas ficamos bem. Para mim, pessoalmente, ser um treinador é uma bênção! É ótimo ser apenas capaz de concentrar-se sobre os conceitos básicos de novo e eu ensinar "sozinho" às vezes, é reconfortante. jajaja! É um pouco difícil às vezes, mas honestamente para minha formação tem sido uma grande experiência!

Sinto-me muito humilde por essa grande oportunidade e estou mesmo aprendendo muito. Eu realmente aprendi muito com estas últimas 2 semanas e estou animado para continuar por mais 10! jaja Eu e Elder Scarber já somos grandes amigos também, e nos damos muito bem!

Nossos investigadores estão indo muito bem! Tivemos um batismo ontem e isso é uma grande bênção! E estamos a ter mais pessoas a progredir bem! Encontramos novos investigadores nesta semana por isso, se vocês pudessem orar por Sergio, Marcela, Camila, e Alejandra seria fantástico! Muito obrigado!

Algo que eu estava pensando muito esta semana é esta citação do Élder Holland quando ele compartilha sobre quando ele era mais jovem “Não desista, rapaz. Não pare. Continue caminhando. Existe ajuda e felicidade logo adiante, e muita, nos 30 anos a contar de agora, e continuará existindo mais ainda. Tudo terminará bem. Confie em Deus e acredite nos bens futuros”. Ele disse em uma Conferência Geral, em 1999, eu acho. (Link AQUI.)

Eu realmente amo esta citação porque é verdade. Não devemos desistir nunca, especialmente se somos missionários em nossas áreas. Como missionários, que são atribuídos a uma área, somos literalmente os únicos missionários que têm a oportunidade de receber revelação para a nossa área. Se não formos obedientes, dispostos a trabalhar duro, etc., em seguida, as oportunidades que temos passarão todos os dias. Precisamos continuar trabalhando e nunca desistir ou ceder quando ficar difícil. Isso é algo que é verdade para a missão e para a vida real também. Se desistirmos, depois, nunca alcançaremos o potencial que o Pai Celestial sabe que temos! Eu sei que Deus tem um plano para cada um de nós, só temos de fazer a nossa parte e seremos abençoados.

Sempre que eu estou tendo um momento difícil neste trabalho ou quando tudo está falhando, eu gosto de pensar sobre uma coisa. É apenas um exemplo que eu penso e é mais ou menos assim:

Imagino como minha área, como a área em minha missão (ou como nossos empregos, vida, etc.) fosse como um copo vazio. Cada passo que damos, todos os contatos que fazemos, todos os convites que oferecemos, cada uma dessas coisas adiciona gota de água no copo. Se continuarmos, mesmo quando estamos tendo um momento difícil, quando nós sentimos que não estão sendo abençoados, nosso copo vai manter-se enchendo pouco a pouco. Depois de todo esse trabalho duro, quando o vidro estiver cheio, quando tivermos feito tudo o que for possível para preenchê-lo, aí é quando somos abençoados. Então é quando começamos a encher outra taça, e outro copo.

E na missão, um "copo" cheio pode significar um batismo, pode significar que uma pessoa está interessada em nossa mensagem, poderia até mesmo significar um grande almoço! jaja Mas isso se aplica à vida também. Nós apenas temos que nos manter em movimento, continuar progredindo, e cada coisa que fazemos é somar, é encher o copo.

Eu acredito que esta é uma grande analogia que realmente me faz pensar, e realmente me leva a fazer mais a cada vez que alguém rejeita a nossa mensagem, grita conosco, diz que nos retiremos, porque no final de tudo isso, tudo se resume aos nossos testemunhos pessoais, não nos testemunhos de nossos pais ou dos nossos amigos, mas nossos testemunhos pessoais. Eu quero muito fortalecer o meu, que sim, muitas coisas ruins acontecem, muitas pessoas nos rejeitam na missão e na vida real, por vezes, todos os nossos planos apenas caem por terra, mas se pudermos continuar, e nós podemos continuar a crescer nossa fé e desejo de servir a Cristo, se continuarmos colocando Deus em primeiro lugar antes de mais ninguém, seremos abençoados.

Este é um grande testemunho que aprendi aqui em minha missão. Eu sei que se nós colocarmos a nossa confiança no Pai Celestial, Ele nos abençoará. Nós apenas temos que lembrar que não será em nosso tempo, mas é no tempo Dele.

Falta apenas alguns dias para eu completar um ano em minha missão, e isso é triste só de pensar que eu só tenho mais um ano aqui ... então desfrute de suas missões! E da vida! Como eu estou agora!

E a minha escritura para a semana é D&C 19:15-19:

15 Portanto, ordeno que te arrependas — arrepende-te, para que eu não te fira com a vara de minha boca e com minha ira e com minha cólera e teus sofrimentos sejam dolorosos — quão dolorosos tu não sabes, quão intensos tu não sabes, sim, quão difíceis de suportar tu não sabes.

 16 Pois eis que eu, Deus, sofri essas coisas por todos, para que não precisem sofrer caso se arrependam;

 17 Mas se não se arrependerem, terão que sofrer assim como eu sofri;

 18 Sofrimento que fez com que eu, Deus, o mais grandioso de todos, tremesse de dor e sangrasse por todos os poros; e sofresse, tanto no corpo como no espírito — e desejassenão ter de beber a amarga taça e recuar —

 19 Todavia, glória seja para o Pai; eu bebi e terminei meus preparativos para os filhos dos homens.

Eu amo essas escrituras, porque é Jesus que está falando, e honestamente nos faz pensar, porque é verdade.

Não sabemos exatamente como foi pra Ele. Ele diz que os nossos pecados fizeram com que, "Eu, Deus, o maior de todos, tremesse de dor", e também podemos ver e sentir nessas escrituras o amor que Jesus tem por nós quando ele nos diz que nos arrependamos. Sim, a escritura é um pouco ousada, mas é muito simples.

Arrependei-vos, e sejais mais como Jesus. Isso é belo, eu amo isso!

I do not have much time today! Sorry!! We did a lot today!!

The computer I started using isn't working anymore so I'm now on the computer that my companion Elder Scarber was using, but I have only like 10 minutes.

It was a great week! I just let my companion write for half an hour cause it was his first time, but yeah we are good. I'll send you pictures next week and write more of course.

Just quick... my companion is Elder Scarber from Arizona! He is great and I love his motivation! He is a really sweet guy.

I'm training!

Crazy week! And I don’t have much time but.... let’s start!

I’m training! Last Wednesday I was doing divisions with mi papa, Elder Kelly, and we get called at like 10:30 pm by one of our assistants saying that I’m going to train! So right now we are writing at a random computer place in San Fernando because we have to stay here until our “sons” come tonight because guess what!? Elder Yeoman y Elder Fleming are training too! This is crazy! I’m so excited but scared at the same time! Me and Elder Kelly were super happy that night and he helped me out by giving me lots of tips!

Oh and Elder Kelly is going home today too! His 2 years are up! But yeah this is crazy! Elder Howard is going to Constitucion 2! In the same ward where I started and he is happy to be there! I’m happy for him too! So it’s been a crazy week. So now I’m staying in Jose C Paz and my new companion is arriving tonight! We don’t know who will be until we are all in the same room tonight and President Smith starts calling out who is going to be with who. Exciting!

It’s going to be great! I’m so grateful for this opportunity to do it! Honestly I love Pres Ayre a lot. He helped me out so much and I’m forever grateful to him. He made me elevate the vision I have for my life and for my mission. I already love President Smith too!

We also had a baptism this week! Federico got baptized! And for this week Franco should get baptized! So keep praying for them, please! :) Please also pray for our other investigators Alma, Mia, Florencia, Maxi, Ale, Santi, Silva, and Samara! I am very blessed to be in an area right now where we are exploding! We had 7 investigators come to church last Sunday, and there are so many people progressing. I thank Heavenly Father every day for all the blessings we are having.

Cameron’s call to Philippines? Sweet!!!!!!!! Tell him I’m super happy for him!

Pics 4 to 6 – Friday we did divisions again because we had a baptismal interview, so I went to a pension with 4 elders in it, and it had a great view! And yes, in the second picture the Elder is studying outside because he was whistling and reading out loud so we sent him outside! jajaja

Essa semana foi doida! E eu não tenho muito tempo, mas .... vamos começar!

Estou treinando! Quarta-feira passada eu estava fazendo as divisões com mi papa, Elder Kelly, e nós recebemos um telefonema as 22:30 da noite por um dos nossos assistentes dizendo que eu vou treinar! Então, agora estamos escrevendo num computador em um lugar aleatório em San Fernando, porque temos de ficar aqui até que os nossos "filhos" cheguem esta noite, e sabe o que mais?! Elder Yeoman y Elder Fleming estao treinando também! Isso é loucura!

Estou tão animado, mas com medo, ao mesmo tempo! Eu e Elder Kelly ficamos super felizes naquela noite e ele me ajudou muito, dando-me muitas dicas!

Ah, e Elder Kelly está indo para casa hoje também! Seus 2 anos terminaram! Mas sim, isso é loucura! Elder Howard foi transferido para Constitucion 2! Na mesma ala onde eu comecei e ele está feliz por estar lá! Eu estou feliz por ele também! Então tem sido uma semana cheia! Então agora eu vou ficar em Jose C Paz e meu novo companheiro está chegando hoje à noite! Nós não sabemos quem vai ser até que estejamos todos na mesma sala hoje à noite e Presidente Smith começar chamando quem vai ficar com quem. Emocionante!

Vai ser ótimo! Eu sou tão grato por esta oportunidade de fazê-lo! Honestamente, eu amo Pres Ayre muito. Ele me ajudou muito e eu sou eternamente grato a ele. Ele me fez elevar a visão que tenho para minha vida e para a minha missão. Eu já amo o Presidente Smith também!

Também tivemos um batismo esta semana! Federico foi batizado! E para esta semana Franco deve ser batizado! Então, continuem orando por eles, por favor! :) Por favor, orem por nossos outros investigadores Alma, Mia, Florencia, Maxi, Ale, Santi, Silva e Samara!

Eu sou muito abençoado por estar em uma área no momento em que esta explodindo! Tivemos 7 investigadores que vieram à igreja no domingo passado, e há tantas pessoas progredindo. Agradeço ao Pai Celestial todos os dias por todas as bênçãos que estamos tendo.
