I’m writing this on a Tuesday because
yesterday we had meetings all day! Well I did, my companion had to be with other Elders. All the leaders of our mission
got together yesterday and we had a special visit, Elder Gary E. Stevenson from the
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles came and spoke to us!
We took a bus on Sunday to go to San Fernando
and stayed the night with the assistants, because early yesterday morning –
like I woke up at 3:00 a.m. - we needed to be in Buenos Aires city for a
special meeting with the four missions in the Buenos Aires province. It was a
"secret" meeting only for the
leaders. So, we all got together and listened to Elder Stevenson and President
Teixeira of the Area Presidency. They talked to us about the mission and about
things we have to change.
We all shook hands with Elder
Stevenson, then we had a GREAT training. It was a big training meeting;
they talked about how obedience is a blessing to us and to our investigators,
and how we gain power in promising blessings and testifying, the Spirit, the
way we teach. Many things that will really help us out.
Afterwards we had a mini conference as
leaders in the Buenos Aires North Mission, and in addition, this morning in our
district meetings, we talked about the reunion and how we are going to get better
as a mission.
The subject that I liked more from the
meeting was that he talked a lot about the Spirit and how we work with Him. I
loved how he shared the story of Cornelio that is in Acts chapter 10 and 11.
The Spirit really is working within the investigators and the missionaries, and
we have to have to Spirit with us that way when the Spirit calls we will hear
it. Like Peter did when Cornelio’s guards came to get him.
We did have miracles this past week!
We found an old investigator who really wants to change on Thursday and he came
to Church Sunday! Woooo! If everything goes well he will be baptized this
week... but let us see how it goes!
I pray that all our other
investigators start to progress, or at least get married! I just don’t
understand why here in Argentina it takes someone forever to get married... but
oh well. I have faith everything will turn out well!
About the changes that are coming to
all missions, I will let you know more details about it next week, after our
broadcast tomorrow for 80.000 missionaries around the world, January 25th.
In our leadership meeting they told us these changes are in the schedule,
because President Monson's vision is to have missionaries and returned
missionaries healthier physically and mentally, so it looks like the schedule
in the morning and p-days will change a little bit in case missionaries need to
sleep 30 minutes more, and lunch will be 30 minutes, and dinner 60 minutes, and
p-day starts at 8:30am until 6:00pm, and we will be able to apply more the
principles described in D&C 89, also having more time to proselyte.
They said President Monson wants full-time
missionaries to be more "agents unto themselves" as described in
D&C 58:26-29 and D&C 50:24. He wants us to be more prepared when we return home.

Estou escrevendo este email em uma terça-feira porque ontem tivemos reuniões o dia todo! Bem, eu tive. Meu companheiro esteve com outra dupla de missionários... todos os líderes de nossa missão se reuniram ontem e tivemos uma visita especial, o Élder Gary E. Stevenson, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, veio e falou conosco!
Pegamos um ônibus no domingo para ir a San Fernando e ficamos a noite com os assistentes, porque ontem de manhã - precisei acordar às 3:00 da manhã - precisávamos estar bem cedo para uma reunião especial com as quatro missões na Província de Buenos Aires. Foi uma reunião "secreta" apenas para os líderes. Assim, todos nos reunimos e ouvimos o Élder Stevenson e o Presidente Teixeira da Presidência da Área. Eles conversaram sobre a missão e sobre as coisas que temos de mudar.
Nós todos apertamos a mão de Élder Stevenson, então nós tivemos um GRANDE treinamento. Foi realmente uma ótima reunião. Eles falaram sobre como a obediência é uma bênção para nós e para nossos pesquisadores, e como nós ganhamos poder nas promessas que vêm destas bênçãos conforme testemunhamos delas, o Espírito, a maneira como ensinamos. Muitas coisas que realmente nos ajudarão.
Depois tivemos uma mini-conferência como líderes somente da Missão Buenos Aires Norte e, além disso, esta manhã, em nossas reuniões distritais, conversamos sobre o reencontro e como vamos melhorar como missão.
O assunto que eu mais gostei da reunião foi que ele falou muito sobre o Espírito e como trabalhamos com Ele. Eu amei como ele compartilhou a história de Cornelio que está em Atos capítulos 10 e 11. O Espírito realmente trabalha com investigadores e missionários, e nós temos que ter o Espírito conosco dessa maneira quando o Espírito nos chamar, nós o ouviremos. Como Peter fez quando o guarda de Cornelio veio buscá-lo.
Tivemos milagres na semana passada! Na quinta-feira encontramos um antigo investigador que realmente quer mudar de vida e ele veio à Igreja domingo! Woooo! Se tudo correr bem, ele será batizado nesta semana ... mas vamos ver como vai ser!
Oro para que todos os nossos outros investigadores comecem a progredir, ou pelo menos se casem! Eu só não entendo por que aqui na Argentina leva tanto tempo para alguém se casar ... mas fazer o que. Tenho fé em que tudo sairá bem!
Sobre as mudanças que estão chegando a todas as missões, vou lhe contar mais detalhes sobre isso na próxima semana, após a transmissão amanhã para 80.000 missionários em todo o mundo, 25 de janeiro. Em nossa reunião de liderança eles nos disseram que essas mudanças estão no cronograma, porque a visão do Presidente Monson é ter missionários mais saudáveis fisicamente e mentalmente, então parece que o horário pela manhã e p-days vai mudar um pouco. No caso nós missionários poderemos dormir 30 minutos a mais se precisarmos, o almoço será de 30 minutos e o jantar de 60 minutos, e o p-day começará às 8:30 da manhã até as 6 da tarde, e deveremos aplicar mais os princípios descritos em D&C 89, também teremos mais tempo para fazer o proselitismo.
Eles disseram que o presidente Monson quer que os missionários em tempo integral sejam mais "agentes em si mesmos", como descrito em D&C 58:26-29 e D&C 50:24. Ele quer que fiquemos mais preparados quando voltarmos para casa.
