Work, work, and work!

“I have often said that one of the greatest secrets of missionary work is work! If a missionary works, he will get the Spirit; if he gets the Spirit, he will teach by the Spirit; and if he teaches by the Spirit, he will touch the hearts of the people and he will be happy. Work, work, work—there is no satisfactory substitute, especially in missionary work.” Ezra Taft Benson

Alright, so nothing special happened this week. No special reunions or anything like that, but this week we are seeing more and more the fruits of our labor.

We’ve had so many miracles this week that it’s hard to count them all! We had several investigators come to Church and they are almost all progressing! The father and son, Juan y Franco, have accepted a baptismal date this week and they are reading the Book of Mormon a lot. Then Pablo, a son of a less active family, loves the church and is taking the lessons. We found a guy named Ruben who is listening to the lessons with his 3 granddaughters too! It’s been a miracle week!

Plus we had a crazy one yesterday where a random guy found my companion’s bag, which had all his documents in it that he’d lost, and called our mission president’s number that was on it and he got almost all of his stuff back! And now, that guy that brought all his stuff, we are going to teach him this Wednesday, so there have been so many miracles this week!

I’m sad to leave Del Viso but at the same time I’m really happy that all our work is paying off! It’s why I shared that quote from President Benson. The harder it’s gotten here on the mission, the more I’ve found that work is the best thing we can do! As missionaries the more we forget about ourselves and our needs the more we can help God’s children in our missions.

Lately I’ve just desired to talk and invite more and more people to come into Christ. I love what I’m doing! Yeah, it’s hard, but its great at the same time! Maybe we won’t see the fruits of our labor, but there are fruits! That’s something I really learned this week, and something just gets me working harder and harder.

Next week is transfers, and I’m pretty sure I’ll leave, but I’ll still write on Monday, because now they just kept it on Monday so we don’t change anything.

We are doing some things my companion wants to do today because it’s his birthday!

Elder Ayres

Pics 1 to 8 - This week I did divisions with Elder Adams, who is going home this week! Then we found a giant spider in the pension!

The last pictures are from my companion’s birthday! He made a little cake and then he got balloons and put them all over the pension! And the others are from a member’s house.

We went golfing today again with a bunch of other missionaries! Then we went to eat at this place called "Siga la Vaca" which is a giant steakhouse! It was really good!

Trabalho, trabalho e trabalho!

Tudo bem, então nada de especial aconteceu esta semana. Não houveram reuniões especiais ou algo assim, mas esta semana estamos vendo cada vez mais os frutos do nosso trabalho.

Nós tivemos tantos milagres nesta semana que é difícil contar todos eles! Tivemos vários investigadores que vieram à Igreja e eles estão quase todos progredindo! O pai e filho, Juan y Franco, aceitaram uma data batismal esta semana e eles estão lendo muito o Livro de Mórmon. E Pablo, o filho de uma família menos ativa, ama a igreja e está tomando as lições. Encontramos um cara chamado Ruben que está a ouvir as lições com suas 3 netas! Foi uma semana milagrosa!

Além disso, tivemos um dia louco ontem onde um cara aleatório encontrou a bolsa do meu companheiro, que tinha todos os seus documentos nela que ele tinha perdido, e ligou para o número do nosso presidente de missão que estava nele e ele recebeu quase todas as suas coisas de volta! E agora, aquele cara que trouxe todas as suas coisas, vamos ensiná-lo nesta quarta-feira, então houve tantos milagres nesta semana!

Estou triste de deixar Del Viso, mas ao mesmo tempo estou muito feliz que todo o nosso trabalho está finalmente dando frutos! É por isso que eu compartilhei essa citação do Presidente Benson. Quanto mais difícil é chegar neste ponto na missão, mais eu achei que o trabalho é a melhor coisa que podemos fazer! Como missionários, quanto mais nos esquecemos de nós mesmos e das nossas necessidades, mais poderemos ajudar os filhos de Deus em nossas missões.

Ultimamente eu só quero falar e convidar mais e mais pessoas a virem a Cristo. Eu amo o que estou fazendo! Sim, é difícil, mas é ótimo ao mesmo tempo! Talvez não vejamos os frutos do nosso trabalho, mas há frutos! Isso é algo que eu realmente aprendi esta semana, e algo que só me anima trabalhar mais e mais.

Na próxima semana são transferências, e tenho certeza que vou ser transferido, mas ainda vou escrever na segunda-feira, porque agora eles só mantiveram o p-day na segunda-feira mesmo com transferências para que não mudemos nada.

Estamos fazendo algumas coisas que meu companheiro quer fazer hoje, porque é o aniversário dele!

Nós fomos jogar golf hoje novamente com um grupo de outros missionários! Em seguida, fomos nesse lugar chamado "Siga la Vaca" que é uma churrascaria gigante! Foi muito bom!
