Almost 100 days!

Thats crazy to think that Christmas is that close! The only thing is that it's gonna be a normal working day for me this Christmas! Other then Skyping you I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same! because i still have to go out and work!

Tell us a funny story that happened this week.

Me and my companion were walking down the street this week in the villa, and we saw this mural up on the wall! That was really funny! It was John the Baptist and Jesus doing a baptism but what was funny was that John was putting water on Jesus head like the Catholic church does! haha Oh it was so funny! Where in the Bible does it even say that?? But yeah that was painted outside a Catholic church and we just thought it was hilarious.

Tell us a miracle that you recognized this week.

A miracle that happened to us this week was that we found this family who wants to come to church! they couldn't this Sunday but it was crazy what happened. because we were knocking on a door of a reference that we got and the reference wasn't home, but their neighbors were. We talk to this guy and he told us that he and his family went to our church is Paraguay, but they haven't been ever since they've moved to Argentina. He said he was visiting his mom because she is sick, that he lived outside the city like in the border of Paraguay, but he said his mom has been drinking a lot because his sister died and he wants us to help her. The next day we went by but she wasn't home, but one of her daughters was! So we talked to her and she really wants to come back to church, she gave us the address of her other sister who lives in the villa too and we contacted her and she was the same! So it's been an awesome miracle to find them and bring them back to church! The only thing that's a little weird is that they aren't baptized, like none of them are. So we have to find out why especially if they went to our church in Paraguay. We also see some other problems like they aren't married and they are just living together, but we  are trying our best to work on them and get them active again and so they can get baptized! We've had amazing spiritual lessons with them so we will see how it goes this next week!

How does your mission president inspire you?

To be honest I don't really see him, he is too busy doing other things but when you do see him he is really kind and just wants us to work and work some more! He is really motivating and awesome so it's going to suck when we get the new one, hopefully he will be nice.

What do you love about your mission?

What I love about my mission is just being out here to be honest. Cause if you think about it, I'm a 19 year old boy in Argentina teaching people about Jesus, and that's pretty sweet ;), but yeah just being out here everyday trying to help people come to know the truth is really life changing, because we are declaring all our time to his work.

Tell us about an answer to a prayer you had this week.

An answer to a prayer would be to just find people. We've been struggling because we can't find any people who want or can progress! Literally everyone we talk to isn't married and is just living together which really sucks. so this family we found was really nice, they do have their problems too but we hope they are really and chosen to change and become baptized.

What are your goals and vision for this transfer?

Just the missions vision, to find, teach, and baptize. Other then that I don't know of any goals, other then how us as a zone want to baptize 13 people this transfer.

How are your investigators, lessons, members this week?

We get lots of lessons every week and lots of new people. The only problem is what I said earlier. everyone we find cant or doesn't want to progress, because they are happy where they are or whatever. so that's frustrating.

What do you usually do on your P-day?

Mostly what we do on p days is play basketball, go eat, then write cause there really isn't that much time. because our p day is really from 10:15 in the morning, and we have to be ready to leave and work at 6:00 p.m. so there isn't a lot of time. but we usually play basketball or the zone gets together and plays soccer or something like that. its pretty limited tho because our chapels are about an hour apart so it really takes up our time to do that.

What have you studied this week that you would like us to study?

To be honest I haven't gotten that much time to study this week, but when I have I've been studying Elder Perry's last talk. It's just kind of hard to understand because its in Spanish. but that and I've also been studying how to find people to teach and your first encounters with people, like when we first talk to people we try to go through the filters which are, do they believe in God, do they have a family, are they married, do they work on Sundays, do they have a desire to listen and change their lives. That's how we find people. 

Thank you for everything! This transfer I think I might be going to the mission home like every Friday because Elder Kelly is in the choir but I'm not sure. So like this past Friday I got mail so that was fun!

Conte-nos um milagre que aconteceu esta semana com vocês.

Um milagre que aconteceu esta semana foi que encontramos essa família que quer vir à Igreja! Eles não podiam neste domingo, mas foi muito louco o que aconteceu, porque nós batemos na porta de um contato que era referência mas a pessoa não estava em casa, mas os vizinhos estavam. Então conversamos com esse homem que nos disse que ele e sua família frequentavam a Igreja no Paraguai, mas eles não vão desde que mudaram para a Argentina. Ele disse que estava visitando a mãe dele porque ela estava doente, e que ele vive fora da cidade na fronteira com o Paraguai. Ele disse que sua mãe estava bebendo muito porque sua irmã tinha falecido e pediu que pudéssemos ajudá-la. No dia seguinte nós fomos novamente mas ela não estava em casa, mas uma das filhas estava. Então, conversamos com ela e ela quer voltar para a Igreja. Ela nos deu o endereço de outra irmã que também mora na mesma vila, e nós a contatamos e ela também quer voltar para a igreja! Então foi um milagre maravilhoso encontrá-los e vamos trabalhar para reativá-los. A única coisa mais estranha é que todos eles não são batizados, tipo, nenhum deles, então teremos que descobrir o porque, se é porque não são casados e estão somente morando juntos. Mas estamos tentando nosso melhor com eles, temos tido lições super espirituais então vamos ver o que acontece nesta semana.

Como seu presidente de missão lhe inspira?

Para ser honesto, eu não o vejo muito, ele está ocupado com outras coisas, mas quando o vemos, ele é muito gentil e quer que trabalhemos e trabalhemos um pouco mais! Ele sabe como nos motivar e vamos sentir falta quando o novo presidente vier, espero que ele seja legal.

O que você ama sobre sua missão?

O que amo sobre minha missão é apenas estar aqui. Porque se você pensar sobre isso, eu sou um rapaz de 19 anos aqui na Argentina ensinando as pessoas sobre Jesus, e isso é muito joia. J Mas sim, apenas estando aqui todos os dias tentando ajudar as pessoas a conhecer a verdade é realmente uma mudança de vida, porque estamos declarando a todos o trabalho Dele.

Conte-nos sobre uma resposta a uma oração que vocês tiveram esta semana.

Uma resposta à oração seria apenas encontrar pessoas. Nós temos passado dificuldades porque não encontramos pessoas que queiram progredir! Literalmente todos que conversamos não são casados e estão apenas morando juntos o que é um saco, então esta família que encontramos, embora também tenham os seus problemas, são ótimos, e espero que eles realmente queiram mudar e se batizar.

Quais são suas metas e visão para esta transferência?

Apenas a visão da missão, encontrar, ensinar e batizar. Além disso eu não sei de outras metas, a não ser que nossa meta como zona nesta transferência é batizar 13 pessoas.

Como estão seus investigadores, membros e lições esta semana?

Nós ensinamos muitas lições todas as semanas e encontramos muita gente nova. O único problema como eu disse antes, todos que encontramos ou não querem progredir, ou estão felizes com suas vidas, então é frustrante.

O que você normalmente faz no seu p-day?

Na maioria das vezes jogamos basquete, daí vamos comer, e escrever, porque realmente não há muito tempo porque o p-day é das 10:15 da manhã, e daí temos que estar prontos para trabalhar às 6 da tarde, então não há muito tempo. Normalmente encontramos os outros missionários da zona e jogamos basquete ou futebol, e o tempo é limitado porque a capela é uma hora de viagem, então leva bastante tempo somente indo de um lugar para outro.

O que você estudou essa semana que gostaria que estudássemos?

Eu não tive tempo para estudar muito essa semana, mas quando o fiz tenho estudado o último discurso de Elder Perry. É apenas um pouco difícil de entender por causa do Espanhol, mas eu também tenho estudado sobre como encontrar pessoas para ensinar, o que dizemos na primeira conversa, ou seja, quando conversamos a primeira vez com alguém geralmente filtramos a pessoa, tipo, perguntamos se ela acredita em Deus, se tem uma família, se são casados, se trabalham no domingo, se ele tem o desejo de ouvir e aprender e mudar sua vida. Assim é como encontramos as pessoas.

Obrigado por tudo! Esta transferência eu acho que irei várias vezes à casa da missão provavelmente toda sexta, porque Elder Kelly está no coral mas eu não tenho certeza. Então, esta sexta passada eu coletei minhas cartas então foi muito bom!

First transfers week

1. How was the baptism this week?
The baptism Sunday was AWESOME!! We baptized Belén, a 9 year old girl who's family hasn't been active in the church for about 10 years! Her uncle, Gaston Leites, baptized her! He went on a mission too, but he's been kind of inactive as well because of his work. The baptism was great because everyone in her family came! Her mom and her mom's brothers all came to watch the baptism! So yes, our goal was to baptize Belén but we wanted her whole family to come back! And this week and last week we've been teaching her the lessons and almost everyone in the family has been listening in so she is being a great example to her family to come back to church! And yes, this was my FIRST BAPTISM!!

2. It was Mother's Day in Argentina this Sunday! How was it?

Yeah it was, so.... HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!! But no, we still had to go out and work. That's how it is with every holiday here, even Christmas! But yeah, we worked, but it was hard. because everyone was drunk and too busy watching a soccer game or playing poker.

3. How was transfer's Monday/week?

Transfers were crazy! We got into a huge group chat with our area through the phone and they go area by area saying what is going to happen while me and my companion were sitting in the pension just huddled around the phone. and of course we were second to last but me and Elder Kelly are staying together for another transfer! We have so much to do here and we are so excited to keep going!!

4. What about the earthquake of 6.0 at Salta Mission area? Did you feel it? BTW, do you guys have an emergency plan set up?

No, we didn't feel anything... and not that I know of... probably we do but we don't have anything big!

5. November 12th will have an Argentina x Brasil game in Buenos Aires. Be careful!

Yeah that's crazy we hear about it from the members all the time! But Argentina has been doing bad lately, we hear all the results and stuff about the games so we're updated. I also heard Messi is injured, so Brazil should win this coming game!

 

6. So, now we are 4 hours behind grandma in Sao Paulo. Does Argentina has daylight savings?

I have no idea... it's like going to be like 12:45 here when I send this so let me know. (That were 3 hours exactly, so Argentina does not have the daylight that Brazil has.)

7. Tell us a funny story and a miracle that happened to you this week. 

Well this is gonna be funny and a miracle! We actually meet lots of people here that speak Portuguese! So that's really awesome because I can talk to them! But actually yesterday we were walking to lunch, and we had to walk through that huge main street in Buenos Aires where the Obelisk is, and this couple yelled out "Elderes"!! We turned around and by the time they got to us I realized that they only spoke Portuguese! So I started talking to them and they were from Sao Paulo. They were trying to find this member in our area because they were friends. but I have never met this member before outside of church. so i was pretty much talking to them in Portuguese while I was translating what my companion said so they could understand! That was really awesome and we ended up really helping them! And that was crazy because that main street isn't our area, but this couple yelled out "Elderes" at the perfect time and miraculously this person they were looking for was in our area. (we were the only ones that could of known this persons address.) So that was pretty awesome!

It's been a good week. We had lots of set appointments and everything so it was good. The baptism really made us happy so hopefully that's a kick start to more and more baptisms!

8. Health?

Yeah I'm getting better and better (less headaches). Don't worry. and my contacts are fine, some days I just use my glasses to change it up tho.

9. And the weather?

The weather was cold again! And yesterday it was a warm day until about 5:00 pm then it rained SO hard! We were soaked! So we went to Hermana Sabina's house and she helped up warm up. Hermana Sabina is like the mom of the missionaries in this area; she's this little Bolivian woman who really cares a lot about everyone! Some time I'll get a picture with her and send it home!

Alright... the first one is that our kitchen flooded and we have a hole on the ground so Elder Kelly was squeeging the water into the hole! I totally fixed it tho! I had to stick my hands down there to unplug it and there was so much rotten food! blah!!

The second one is just me being a little goofy! As you can tell I'm super tired... and don't worry I'm getting a haircut tomorrow! We didn't have any time this week! :)

O batismo domingo foi INCRÍVEL! Nós batizamos Belén, uma garotinha de 9 anos de idade cuja família não está ativa por quase 10 anos! O tio, Gaston Leites, a batizou! Ele também serviu uma missão, mas está um pouco inativo por causa do trabalho. O batismo foi ótimo porque toda a família veio! A mãe dela e os irmãos da mãe vieram para assistir o batismo! Então, nossa meta era batizar Belén mas queríamos que toda a família voltasse. Sim, foi, então... FELIZ DIA DAS MÃES! Foi um dia normal de trabalho, como o é em todo feriado aqui, mesmo no Natal! Nós trabalhamos, e foi difícil, porque todos estavam bêbados ou assistindo futebol ou jogando pôquer.

3.    Como foi o dia/semana de transferências?
Foi muito louco! Nós entramos um grupo gigante em nossa área por telefone e eles iam de área em área falando sobre as mudanças que aconteceriam em cada uma, enquanto eu e meu companheiro ficamos sentados ao redor do telefone na pensão o tempo inteiro porque éramos os penúltimos. Eu e Elder Kelly permanecemos juntos por mais uma transferência. Nós temos muito o que fazer aqui e estamos animados para trabalhar!

4.    E o terremoto na área da missão Salta, você sentiu? Vocês têm um plano de emergência para esses acidentes naturais?
Não, não sentimos nada... e não que eu saiba, deve ter mas não acho que temos nada grande por aqui.

5.       Dia 12 de novembro terá um jogo entre Brasil e Argentina em Buenos Aires. Tome cuidado!
Sim, muito louco! Nós ouvimos os resultados e a rivalidade pelos membros o tempo todo! Mas a Argentina está jogando mal ultimamente, pelo que ouvimos. Eu também ouvi que Messi está machucado então o Brasil deveria ganhar este jogo!

6.       Com o fim do horário de verão no Brasil, estamos a 4 horas atrás da vovó em São Paulo. A Argentina também tem esse horário de verão?
Não faço ideia... será em torno de 12:45 quando eu enviar este email então me diga. (Isso foram 3 horas exatas, então a Argentina não tem horário de verão como o Brasil ou EUA).

7.       Conte-nos uma história engraçada e um milagre que aconteceu essa semana.
Bom, vou contar esta história que é engraçada e ao mesmo tempo foi um milagre! Nós encontramos muitas pessoas aqui que falam português! Então isto é realmente ótimo assim eu posso conversar com eles! Mas, ontem, nós estávamos caminhando para o nosso almoço, e tínhamos que atravessar esta enorme praça no centro de Buenos Aires onde o Obelisco de Buenos Aires se encontra, e este casal gritou “Élderes!” Nós nos viramos e quando eles chegaram onde nós estávamos, eu vi que eles apenas falavam Português! Então eu comecei a conversar com eles e eles eram de São Paulo, e estavam tentando encontrar este membro em nossa área porque era amigo deles, mas eu nunca havia encontrado este membro ainda fora da Igreja. Então eu estava conversando com eles em Português e traduzia tudo para meu companheiro assim ele podia entender! Foi realmente incrível e acabamos realmente ajudando-os! E foi realmente louco porque aquela rua principal não era nossa área, mas a pessoa que esse casal estava procurando, e foi coisa de segundos quando eles gritaram para nós, somente nós éramos os únicos que poderíamos conhecer o endereço daquela pessoa. Então foi muito legal!

Foi uma boa semana. Nós tivemos muitos horários marcados e tudo foi muito bom. O batismo realmente nos fez felizes então esperamos que isso seja o começo para mais e mais batismos!

8.       E sua saúde?
Sim, estou melhorando das dores de cabeça. Não se preocupe, e minhas lentes de contato estão bem. Às vezes eu uso os óculos só para mudar um pouco.

9.       E o clima?
O clima esfriou de novo! E ontem estava um dia de calor até aproximadamente 17:00hs quando caiu essa chuva TÃO forte! Ficamos enxarcados! Aí fomos para a casa da Irmã Sabinas, e elas nos ajudou a ficarmos secos e quentes de novo. Irmã Sabina é a mãe dos missionários nessa área, ela é esta pequena senhora boliviana que realmente cuida de todos um montão! Dia desses eu vou tirar uma foto com ela e mandar pra vocês.

Another week down

Hello! Love you all and I don't have much time this week, but I'll try to answer everything.

1. How was this week?
It' s been alright, I'm doing pretty good. We're just trying to find people! This Sunday we'll have a baptism! It's this little girl named Belen who is turning 9. Her family is inactive but she loves to go to Primary. so we are teaching her the baptismal lessons, but most important we want to reactivate her family! So hopefully everything goes good there.

2. How is the weather, what about your health?

I'm doing good. I've got no problems with blisters or sleeping. I've gotten headaches but my companion said that's normal, Overall I'm doing good here. The weather has been weird, like it's supposed to be hot but it's been cold this week.

3. How about Sacrament Meeting? Did you already give a talk or testimony?

Here we just have class first then we have sacrament last, but this Sunday was good, We had testimony meeting and some people were crying. And yes I did speak in sacrament! I had to speak and give a testimony the first Sunday I was here!

4. What are some of the goals you have there?
Our main goals are just to baptize. We have set goals everyday since we awake, like how many lessons to teach, what we are planning on learning during study and then to use that when we teach if we can, etc.

5. What did you study this week?

I've studied a lot about the character of Christ this week again, also about charity, patience, all that stuff. Don't worry about sending me a bunch of talks because we have lots of Liahona magazines in our pension, but I guess if you have a great one you can send it! About Gospel Principles class, we don't teach it because they have members to do that. They tell us not to talk much and just listen to make sure everything is right, or if they don't know the answer to something, then we answer it. We are just there to make sure everything is going alright. When we have investigators we make sure they understand what is being said.

6. Did get any better about finding investigators this week? 

So far no, because everyone we talk to isn't keeping commitments, have a crazy schedule so we can't meet to teach them, or isn't married which sucks! To me being married sounds great! But here people just don't understand, well the truth is they don't have the knowledge about eternal families like we as members of the Church do.

7. What about the president, your companion and other news?
We meet with president like every 3 months so I won't see him for a while! My companion is doing good! He does like to sing like all the time! We're all good!

8. Have you gone to the mission home to get more letters?

No, we haven't, We've gone a lot this transfer, like apparently we only go like maybe max 2 times a transfer, and we've been there like 4 or 5 times already. Also, transfers are going to happen next Monday, and from what I know of, we might not be able to email, it will just depend on how late we get home. Maybe, I could even trade companions too, it's crazy how we don't know what we are doing or where we are going!

I read that poem you sent me all the time. I love it! It's totally true too. He knows it all, my testimony has definitely grown about the Atonement and the crazy power it has for everyone. How anyone could change if they just want and have that desire to change. That's something we look for in people out here, if they want a change, because those are the people who are ready to listen and learn about the Gospel.

1. Como foi esta semana?

Tem sido tudo bem, eu estou fazendo um bom trabalho. Nós estamos apenas tentando encontrar pessoas! Este domingo vamos ter um batismo! É esta menina chamada Belen que está fazendo 9 anos. 2. Como está o clima, e sua saúde?

Estou indo bem. Eu não tenho problemas com bolhas nos pés ou dormir. Eu tenho dores de cabeça, mas o meu companheiro disse que é normal, e no geral, eu estou bem aqui. O tempo foi estranho, como é suposto ser quente agora, mas tem sido frio esta semana.

3. Como foi sua Reunião Sacramental? Você já deu algum discurso ou prestou testemunho?

Aqui começamos com as classes, e por último temos a sacramental, e este domingo foi bom, tivemos reunião de testemunho e algumas pessoas estavam chorando. E sim, eu já discursei na sacramental! Eu tinha que falar e dar um testemunho no primeiro domingo eu estava aqui!

4. Quais são algumas das metas que você tem esta semana?

Nossos principais objetivos são apenas para batizar, mas criamos metas diárias desde que acordamos, quantas lições damos, o que aprendemos quando estudamos, e em seguida, usamos quando ensinamos se pudermos, etc.

5. O que você estudou esta semana?

Eu estudei muito sobre o Caráter de Cristo novamente, também sobre a caridade, paciência, todas essas coisas. Não se preocupe em me mandar um monte de discursos porque temos muitas revistas Liahona em nossa pensão, mas se você tem um ótimo, você pode enviá-lo! Sobre classe de Princípios do Evangelho, nós não ensinamos, porque eles têm membros para fazer isso. Eles nos dizem para não falar muito e apenas ouvir para garantir que tudo está certo, ou se eles não sabem a resposta para alguma coisa, então nós respondemos. Estamos lá apenas para se certificar que tudo está indo bem. Quando temos investigadores também certificamos que que eles entendem o que está sendo dito.

6. Como foi esta semana com os investigadores?

Até agora nada, porque todos que nós falamos não querem manter compromissos, tem uma agenda louca assim que nós podemos não ir à casa deles e ensiná-los, ou não são casado, que é bem chato! Eu acho que ser casado parece ótimo! Mas aqui as pessoas simplesmente não entendem, bem a verdade é que eles não têm o conhecimento sobre famílias eternas, como nós, como membros da Igreja fazem.

7. E o presidente, seu companheiro e outras notícias?

Nós nos encontramos com o presidente a cada 3 meses por isso não vou vê-lo por um tempo! O meu companheiro está bem! Ele gosta de cantar tipo todo o tempo! Estamos todos bem!

8. Você tem ido para a Casa da Missão para obter mais cartas?

Não, nós fomos muito esta transferência. Aparentemente, nós só devemos ir tipo 2 vezes por transferência, e nós já estivemos lá  4 ou 5 vezes. Além disso, as transferências vão acontecer na próxima segunda-feira, e pode ser que eu não seja capaz de enviar e-mail. Só vai depender de quão tarde chegarmos em casa. Talvez, eu poderei  trocar companheiros também, é uma loucura como nós não sabemos o que estamos fazendo ou para onde estamos indo!

Eu leio o poema que você me enviou o tempo todo. Eu amo! É totalmente verdadeiro também. Ele sabe tudo, meu testemunho cresceu com certeza sobre a Expiação e o incrível poder que tem para todos, como alguém poderia mudar se eles só quiserem e tiverem o desejo de mudar. Isso é algo que procuramos em pessoas aqui, se eles quiserem uma mudança, porque essas são as pessoas que estão prontas para ouvir e aprender sobre o Evangelho.

Week after General Conference in Argentina

Hello!

I've been having a good week! It's just been hard and long. This week we had the arctic winds come in so it's been really cold for October here! My companion, who has been here for 15 months, said that a couple mornings we've had this week have been the coldest he's been in Argentina. but I'm doing good, don't worry. 

My Spanish is getting better and I'm just working hard out here.

How about Conference? Did you get to watch/understand it if it was in Spanish? 

Conference was good. You realize a lot of different things as a missionary watching it that you wouldn't if you weren't! It was great! I watched the first session in Spanish then the other 3 we watched in English, so that was fun. 

When Elder Holland talk came on I turned around and said, "Oh I bet my mom is crying right now" and everyone else laughed and said, "Mine too!", haha so that was funny. I liked the last talk by Elder Bednar! Especially what he said about Elder Perry, which was my favorite, about families and stuff so that was awesome. 

I also liked elder Aoyagi's talk about trials in life and why we have to deal with them.

And I really liked President Nelson's talk about women in the church and helping us men when times get tough. Overall, I thought it was a great conference!

How about your families, teachings and week? How was it?

This week was kind of crappy. Our investigators either don't want to talk to us anymore, aren't keeping their commitments, or didn't come to Conference, so that's been rough. Overall we just have to be better at finding the Lord's chosen (Alma 16:13-20). I know the Lord has prepared people for us. So, this week we are just going to work work work and then work some more!

What about letters, did you already figure out how to send them to U.S.?

I don't know when I'll send a letter! We're actually going to figure it out today because it might just need to be at the post office here, so I'll let you know next week! Just ask me again in case I forget.

So, the new apostles called were Elder Ronald A. Rasband, Elder Gary E. Stevenson and Elder Dale G. Renlund! They are the ones the Lord chose and are prepared to be apostles, prophets, seers and revelators. 

Yeah, that was interesting. I really thought it was going to be that Brazilian guy in the presidency of the 70, Ulisses Soares or Claudio Costa!! Everyone here wanted it to be a Latino, but the Lord knows what He is doing and His judgement is better then mine so I'm good.

How can we help you this week with prayers?

Please, pray for the members and the people we talk to. Pray for me and my companion. We are working and the Villa 21 which is the one we're in there are a bunch of people who just don't want to talk to us, who don't want to change religions and who don't want to listen to us at all. So it's kind of hard to stay happy sometimes because we will literally be out there all day from 3:30 to 8:30 talking to tons of people and teaching lessons and we will only come away with 2 new investigators, who will then not keep their commitments to read or come to Church, and later will not want to talk to us anymore. So its just hard, so please pray for us, We try to stay animated but day after day of that just makes you mad that people don't want to listen or change their lives for the better. Its just frustrating, 

This week I have been reading the talk The Character of Christ a lot. It is seriously an AMAZING talk and I love it so much. Thanks for sending a printed copy to me because it's really sweet. I'm going to keep studying that too.

Olá!

Eu tive uma boa semana, apenas difícil e longa. Esta semana também tivemos os ventos árticos e está bastante frio para outubro aqui. Meu companheiro que está aqui há 15 meses disse que dois dias dessa semana foram os mais frios desde que ele chegou aqui, mas estou bem, não se preocupe.

Meu espanhol está melhorando e eu estou trabalhando bastante aqui.

Como foi a Conferência? Você conseguiu assistir/entender em Espanhol?

A Conferência foi ótima! Você entende as coisas de maneira diferente assistindo como missionário que não entenderia se não o fosse. Eu assisti a primeira sessão em espanhol e as outras em inglês, então foi bem melhor!

Quando Elder Holland deu seu discurso, eu virei para os outros missionários e disse “Aposto que minha mãe está chorando agora”, e todo mundo riu e disse “A minha também!”. Foi engraçado. Eu realmente gostei do último discurso de Elder Bednar! Principalmente quando ele citou Elder Perry, que era meu apóstolo favorito, sobre famílias, então foi realmente ótimo.

Eu também gostei do discurso de Elder Aoyagi sobre as provações e porque precisamos saber lidar com elas.

E gostei demais do discurso de Presidente Nelson sobre as mulheres da igreja e a ajuda que elas nos dão quando os tempos são difíceis. Achei que foi uma conferência incrível!

E as famílias que vocês estão ensinando esta semana, como foi?

Está semana foi difícil. Nossos investigadores ou não querem conversar conosco mais, ou não estão mantendo os compromissos, ou não vieram à Conferência, então está complicado. Nós temos que encontrar os escolhidos do Senhor (Alma 16:13-20). Eu sei que o Senhor tem preparado pessoas para nós, então esta semana iremos trabalhar, trabalhar e trabalhar ainda mais!

E sobre as cartas, você descobriu como enviá-las para os Estados Unidos?

Eu não sei quando poderei enviar, hoje vamos tentar descobrir como fazer isso, então eu lhe direi semana que vem. Lembre-me caso eu esqueça de comentar.

Os novos apóstolos chamados são Elder Rasband, Elder Stevenson e Elder Renlund. Você assistiu?

Sim, foi muito interessante. Eu pensei que teríamos um apóstolo brasileiro da presidência dos setenta, Elder Soares ou Elder Costa, e aqui todos queriam que fosse um latino, mas o Senhor sabe o que está fazendo e Seu julgamento é melhor que o meu, então confio Nele.

Como podemos lhe ajudar esta semana com orações?

Por favor, orem para os membros e as pessoas que conversamos. Ore também por mim e por meu companheiro. Nós estamos trabalhando na Vila 21, e temos muitas pessoas que não querem conversar conosco, mudar de religião ou sequer ouvir nada de nós. É difícil ficar feliz e animado porque ficamos lá das 3 da tarde às 8 e meia da noite conversando com muitas pessoas e ensinando mas no final do dia saímos com apenas 2 investigadores, que depois de um tempo não estão a fim de conversar mais conosco, ou manter compromissos de leitura ou sequer ir à Igreja. Nós tentamos ficar animados dia após dia, mas chega uma hora que ficamos tristes que as pessoas não querem mudar suas vidas para melhor. É frustrante.

Esta semana tenho estudado muito o discurso O caráter de Cristo de Elder David A. Bednar. É seriamente incrível e eu amo tanto esse discurso! Obrigado por me enviar uma cópia impressa. Estarei estudando esse discurso ainda mais.
