Consagración!

(Consecration)

What a week we had! Lots of good things happened this week! Above all, we have someone progressing! Wooooo! Luis came to church and wants to be baptized! There we go! 

We also had a really good reunion last week with Elder Levrino! He is a good teacher and he taught us so much! I loved how we talked a lot about consecrating ourselves completely to the work of the Lord. Something I loved that he shared with us is that in our callings as missionaries, we have the only calling in the church that says, "Dedicate all your time and attention" to the work. The calling of a missionary is the only calling that says that in it. He explained to us how not even the prophet has that calling. That really struck me because the Lord has a lot of trust in us, and what we do with our time here is sacred. If we give it all to the Lord, He will bless us so much. 

I have definitely seen so many blessings here as I have kept the mission standards. He also talked to us about faith and how we need more and more of it. My faith has grown a lot while I’ve been here and the more I try to consecrate myself to the will of the Lord the more blessings I see, the more love I have for the people I teach, and the more it helps me forget all the problems or trials I’m going through. 

I am so happy I came here on the mission, I have learned so much, and it is sad to see that it is somehow coming to an end! But not now! Jaja I have a lot of time here still! I have three more weeks here in Del Viso and I’m making the best of it. We are working hard and we have great possibilities right now. The blessings from the lord are just starting to come in more and more!

Remember Doctrine and Covenants, section 4:

“Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.

Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.

Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;

For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;

And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.

Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence.

Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.” 

Well how today is a holiday we don’t have that much time because everything closes early! We spent most of our morning trying to find an open place to write! 

That is awesome how mom is doing all that family history! I can’t wait to see everything later!

Pics 1 to 4 - I did divisions this week with Elder Riquelme who is from Paraguay! wooo! It was a really great day and we slept in a pension with two other missionaries, Elder Santos from brasil and Elder Cook de California!

Pics 5 to 8 - Here is a picture of the soles of my shoes! Then they are pictures when we had the reunion this past week! The first one is of me and Elder Dote! He is my good friend and he is going home in a couple weeks! Then, Elder Ellis! And the last it's me with my two sons! :)

Pics 9 to 12 - Pictures of us doing some service this past week! We helped la Familia Gonzalez build part of their house! Then here are a couple pictures of my companion. He fell asleep and I could not wake him up... so I started putting all his stuff above him! Jajaja

Consagração

Que semana tivemos! Muitas coisas boas aconteceram esta semana! Acima de tudo, temos alguém progredindo! Wooooo! Luis veio à igreja e quer ser batizado! Aqui vamos nós!

Também tivemos uma reunião muito boa semana passada com Elder Levrino! Ele é um bom professor e nos ensinou muito! Eu amei como ele ensinou muito sobre consagrar-nos completamente à obra do Senhor. Algo que eu amei que ele compartilhou conosco é que em nossos chamados como missionários, temos o único chamado na igreja que diz: "Dedique todo o seu tempo e atenção" ao trabalho. O chamado de um missionário é o único chamado que diz isso. Ele nos explicou como nem mesmo o profeta tem esse chamado. Isso realmente me impressionou porque o Senhor tem muita confiança em nós, e o que fazemos com o nosso tempo aqui é sagrado. Se entregarmos tudo ao Senhor, Ele nos abençoará tanto.

Eu definitivamente vi tantas bênçãos aqui enquanto tenho mantido os padrões de missão. Ele também falou conosco sobre a fé e como precisamos de mais e mais dela. Minha fé cresceu muito enquanto estou aqui e quanto mais eu tento me consagrar à vontade do Senhor, mais bênçãos eu vejo, mais amor eu tenho pelas pessoas que ensino e mais me ajuda a esquecer Todos os problemas ou dificuldades que estou passando.

Estou tão feliz por ter vindo aqui na missão, aprendi muito, e é triste ver que de alguma forma está chegando ao fim! Mas não ainda! Eu tenho muito tempo aqui ainda! Eu tenho mais três semanas aqui em Del Viso e estou fazendo o melhor desse tempo. Estamos trabalhando duro e temos grandes possibilidades agora. As bênçãos do Senhor estão apenas começando a vir mais e mais!

Lembre-se de Doutrina e Convênios, seção 4:

1 Agora eis que uma obra maravilhosa está para iniciar-se entre os filhos dos homens.

 2 Portanto, ó vós que embarcais no serviço de Deus, vede que o sirvais de todo o coração, poder, mente e força, para que vos apresenteis sem culpa perante Deus no último dia.

 3 Portanto, se tendes desejo de servir a Deus, sois chamados ao trabalho;

 4 Porque eis que o campo já está branco para a ceifa; e eis que aquele que lança a sua foice com vigor faz reserva, de modo que não perece, mas traz salvação a sua alma;

 5 E fé, esperança, caridade e amor, com os olhos fitos na glória de Deus, qualificam-no para o trabalho.

 6 Lembrai-vos da fé, da virtude, do conhecimento, da temperança, da paciência, da bondade fraternal, da piedade, da caridade, da humildade, da diligência.

Bem, como hoje é um feriado e não temos muito tempo porque tudo fecha cedo!

Passamos a maior parte da nossa manhã tentando encontrar um lugar aberto para escrever!

Isso é incrível como a mãe está fazendo toda essa história da família! Mal posso esperar para ver tudo mais tarde!

The Spirit

Hello!

What a week! We talked to a lot of people this week and knocked on a lot of doors too and nothing really came from that, but the miracles came on Saturday night.

On Saturday night we visited a less active family and when we got there they invited us in and talked to us about how they want to go back to Church! The Familia Alvarez is awesome and they have a son who is 13 years old who isn’t baptized! And the best part is that the mom came to Church yesterday, so that was awesome!

Then we also had other miracles yesterday at Church too, when we had two investigators at Church! One who’s name is Luis and tomorrow we are going to give him a baptismal date, because he told us he wants to get baptized! Then the other one is Jose, which is the investigator that disappeared right before his baptism... so I hope he can progress again and get baptized soon!

We have other possibilities as well! Alejandra and Julio are still a big one! They just work a lot, but we are there with them and I hope this week they will come to Church! We also found la Familia Limache. The wife is a member who wants to come back to Church and her husband and two daughters were really nice and listened to our message! So I hope we can get them to Church as well.

We are slowly seeing more and more miracles here in Del Viso. Sure with more and more possibilities coming I’m finding myself more and more motivated to work harder. Something I’ve loved recently is that I’ve felt a lot of the Spirit. During the day I feel like I’m in tune with the Spirit, which is great!

A scripture I’ve noticed that I’ve been sharing a lot with people is Mosiah 2: 41 which says:

“And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.”

I love the promise of blessing and happiness that we have when we keep the commandments! I know the commandments are there to help us grow, and the more we keep the more blessings we will receive.

Next week, from Saturday to Tuesday, it’s going to be Carnaval, so for 4 days we are going to have a holiday! I just hope we can find people home! Fortunately, it’s not too dangerous out here so we will just keep working!

The last three where we are on the bus stop, we were waiting there for like 40 minutes for our colectivo to come! It took forever! We gave an invitation to everyone who waited with us but none of them lived in Del Viso. jaja

Olá!

Que semana! Nós conversamos com muitas pessoas esta semana e batemos em muitas portas também e nada realmente veio disso, mas os milagres aconteceram na noite de sábado.

Na noite de sábado, visitamos uma família menos ativa e, quando chegamos lá, eles nos convidaram e falaram conosco sobre como eles querem voltar para a Igreja! A Familia Alvarez é incrível e eles têm um filho que tem 13 anos que não é batizado! E a melhor parte é que a mãe veio à Igreja ontem, então isso foi demais!

Então também tivemos outros milagres ontem na Igreja, quando tivemos dois investigadores que vieram! Um deles e o Luis e amanhã nós lhe sugeriremos uma data batismal, porque ele nos disse que quer ser batizado! E o outro é José, que é o investigador que desapareceu bem antes de seu batismo ... então eu espero que ele possa progredir novamente e ser batizado em breve!

Temos outras possibilidades também! Alejandra e Julio ainda são grandes! Eles apenas trabalham muito, mas estamos lá com eles e espero que esta semana eles venham para a Igreja! Encontramos também la Familia Limache. A esposa é membro que quer voltar para a Igreja e seu marido e duas filhas foram muito bons e ouviram a nossa mensagem! Espero que possamos levá-los à Igreja também.

Estamos vendo lentamente mais e mais milagres aqui em Del Viso. Claro, com mais e mais possibilidades vindo eu estou encontrando-me cada vez mais motivado para trabalhar mais duro ainda. Algo que eu amei recentemente é que eu tenho sentido muito o Espírito. Durante o dia sinto que estou em sintonia com o Espírito, o que é ótimo!

Uma escritura que eu notei que eu tenho compartilhado muito com as pessoas é Mosias 2: 41 que diz:

"E ainda mais, quisera que considerásseis o estado abençoado e feliz daqueles que guardam os mandamentos de Deus. Pois eis que são abençoados em todas as coisas, tanto materiais como espirituais; e se eles se conservarem fiéis até o fim, serão recebidos no céu, para que assim possam habitar com Deus em um estado de felicidade sem fim. Oh! Lembrai-vos, lembrai-vos de que estas coisas são verdadeiras, porque o Senhor Deus as disse.”

Eu amo a promessa de bênção e felicidade que temos quando guardamos os mandamentos! Eu sei que os mandamentos estão lá para nos ajudar a crescer, e quanto mais obedecermos os mandamentos, mais bênçãos receberemos.

Na próxima semana, de sábado a terça-feira, vai ser Carnaval, então por 4 dias vamos ter um feriado! Só espero que possamos encontrar pessoas em casa! Felizmente, não é muito perigoso aqui, então vamos continuar trabalhando!

Wet Rain - I'm a Grandpa!

Hello!

It has rained for the last 3 days, so that means we’ve gotten wet (great title I would say... jaja) but anyway, one more week has passed! We had transfers this week and I’m staying here in Del Viso with my companion, Elder Edwards. I’m going to have 6 months here, that’s a lot of time, and at times I’ve felt like I already know all the streets but other than that we’ve had huge changes this week! First of all, here in Del Viso we’ve had a presidency change, and now we have a new branch president! He is called President Godoy! He is really awesome! He lives in another ward but now he is going to be coming to ours. One of his counselors was our Ward mission leader so I hope we get a new one called soon!

I’m actually really happy with the change, just because President Godoy has always tried to help us out and with the focus of the Stake this year has been inviting friends and family to Church so everything is looking up for us!

We had a really big miracle this week when we met Alejandra and Julio. We found their form in the area book and the missionaries visited them over 3 years ago. We noticed that there wasn’t much information on them and also that they live in an area where there literally are no buses that pass through there, so you have to walk several blocks to get to their house. We prayed and we decided to go on Saturday and we found them! They had moved but only a block away and they were really happy to see us! It’s a big family and they said the missionaries just stopped passing by one day, and they want us to pass and teach them this week! I asked around and I noticed that around that time is when there were 4 missionaries here in Del Viso, and when it went down to 2 missionaries their progress was lost on the way and they never passed by this family. It was a great miracle and we hope they can progress! We hope things keep getting better, because we know they will!

It’s been hot and humid because it’s been raining a lot lately! Like for the past 3 days it’s been raining a lot which makes things for us a little difficult but what are you going to do? 

We are working with a lot of different people now and our guidance is really a "we need you to be completely committed to following God and keeping his commandments" because too many people just aren’t coming to Church. So some people I’d love it if you could pray for them. They are la Familia Castillo, Alejandra y Julio, David y Jesica, Familia Limache, Ezequiel, Walter, and Ariel. These people are our possibilities right now so I hope they can progress. Thanks for everything and all the prayers!

We had no conferences or activities this week, but today we’ve had a really good p-day! We started out playing soccer in the rain for a couple hours then we went to go eat and walk around in this huge mall that’s close to our area. I know right? Now we have a little bit more time in our p-days and we want to do all these things we need and end up with not much time to write, I’m sorry!

Chuva Molhada - Sou um avô!

Olá!

Tem chovido nos últimos 3 dias, o que para nós significa que estamos molhados (o título original eu diria... jaja) mas de qualquer maneira, mais uma semana passou! Tivemos transferências esta semana e eu permaneci aqui em Del Viso com meu companheiro, Elder Edwards. Eu vou completar 6 meses aqui, isso é muito tempo, e às vezes eu senti como se já conhecesse todas as ruas, mas além disso tivemos grandes mudanças esta semana! Primeiro de tudo, aqui em Del Viso tivemos uma mudança de presidência, e agora temos um novo presidente de ramo! Ele é chamado Presidente Godoy! Ele é realmente incrível! Ele mora em outra ala, mas agora ele virá para a nossa. Um de seus conselheiros era nosso líder da obra missionária do ramo então que eu espero que outro seja chamado logo!

Estou realmente muito feliz com a mudança, só porque o Presidente Godoy sempre tentou nos ajudar e como o foco da Estaca este ano é convidar amigos e família para a Igreja, então tudo parece estar melhorando para nós!

Tivemos um grande milagre esta semana quando conhecemos Alejandra e Julio. Encontramos seus dados no livro de área que missionários os visitaram há mais de 3 anos. Percebemos que não havia muita informação sobre eles e também que eles vivem em uma área onde não há ônibus algum literalmente que passam por lá, então você tem que andar várias quadras para chegar a sua casa. Nós oramos e decidimos ir no sábado e nós os encontramos! Eles se mudaram, mas apenas um quarteirão de distância e eles estavam muito felizes em nos ver! É uma família grande e eles disseram que os missionários simplesmente pararam de passar por lá um dia, e eles querem que passemos lá para ensiná-los esta semana! Eu perguntei ao redor e eu notei que por volta dessa época é quando havia 4 missionários aqui em Del Viso, e quando diminuiu para 2 missionários somente seu progresso foi perdido no caminho e eles nunca passaram por esta família. Foi um grande milagre e esperamos que eles possam progredir! Esperamos que as coisas continuem melhorando, porque sabemos que irão!

Tem sido quente e úmido porque tem chovido muito ultimamente! Tipo nos últimos 3 dias tem chovido muito o que torna as coisas para nós um pouco difícil, mas o que você vai fazer?

Estamos trabalhando com muitas pessoas diferentes agora e nossa orientação é realmente assim: "precisamos que você esteja completamente comprometido em seguir a Deus e guardar Seus mandamentos" porque muitas pessoas simplesmente não estão vindo para a Igreja. Então, algumas pessoas eu adoraria se vocês pudessem orar por eles. Eles são la Familia Castillo, Alejandra y Julio, David e Jesica, Familia Limache, Ezequiel, Walter e Ariel. Essas pessoas são nossas possibilidades agora, então espero que elas possam progredir. Obrigado por tudo e todas as orações!

Nós não tivemos nenhuma conferência ou atividades esta semana, mas hoje nós tivemos um p-day realmente bom! Começamos jogando futebol na chuva por algumas horas, em seguida, fomos comer e caminhar em torno deste enorme shopping que está perto de nossa área. Eu sei. Agora temos um pouco mais de tempo em nossos p-days e queremos fazer todas essas coisas que precisamos e acabamos não tendo muito tempo para escrever, me desculpe!
