Prince of Peace

Hello!

This week was better than last week! Not much happened this week other than interviews got changed to this coming week with the President.

The good thing is that we have people progressing! Woooo! We currently have two people with a baptismal date! Mariana and Roberto. Roberto has been here and there for the last month... so we hope he gets to this baptismal date. Then we found Mariana this week! She works in a fruit and vegetable stand. She is great and has already read a lot of the book of Mormon! It is really awesome! Then we have our couples who are progressing too. Micaela and Fabian are currently progressing really well! The papers for divorce for Micaela and her ex-husband are almost done! So then, we can focus on getting her and Fabian married. They are awesome. Fabian was telling us the other day about how he wants to have the priesthood to bless his family so that was awesome! We are also working with a couple called Luis and Aida! They are friendly and this week we should be taking out their turno to get married! So things are going great right now, we are just trying to find more and more people to teach. 

We currently have a goal to share five copies of the book of Mormon everyday so I hope we can keep doing that! Because we have been doing pretty well but almost everyone we have talked to don’t want to come to church! But oh well…

I just wanted to talk a little about the prince of peace videos that the church made for Easter. I really loved the videos! I feel the spirit super strongly whenever I watch every single one of them. My favorite one is the main one. I have seen so many miracles while I have been here on my mission but one of the biggest ones is how much peace comes into the lives of the people we teach whenever we share the gospel with them. The gospel, the church, bring a peace and comfort in this crazy world we are in right now. I have seen this peace grow in my life and it is something I want forever, because without God everything just seems a little hectic! But with the gospel and the spirit, the lord helps us see the little blessings and things that makes our lives great! I have a friend here on the mission called Jorge Dadi! He helps us missionaries out whenever we have to file a divorce or a marriage. In addition, he told me that, last week, he had an opportunity to meet President Nelson because he was invited to a meeting that President Nelson had with one of the Catholic clergy of the Catholic Church here in Buenos Aires, so he sent me some sweet pictures of it! jaja

Príncipe da Paz

Olá!

Esta semana foi melhor do que na semana passada! Não aconteceram muitas coisas esta semana, com exceção das entrevistas que foram mudadas para esta próxima semana com o Presidente.

O bom é que temos pessoas progredindo! Woooo! Atualmente temos duas pessoas com uma data batismal! Mariana e Roberto. Roberto esteve aqui e lá durante o último mês ... então esperamos que ele esteja aqui para sua data batismal. Em seguida, encontramos Mariana esta semana! Ela trabalha em um carrinho de frutas e vegetais. Ela é otima e já leu muito do Livro de Mórmon! É realmente incrível! Então nós temos nossos casais que estão progredindo também. Micaela e Fabian estão progredindo muito bem! Os papéis para o divórcio de Micaela e seu ex-marido estão quase terminados! Então, poderemos nos concentrar em ajudar com que ela e Fabian se casem. Eles são muito bons! Fabian estava nos dizendo no outro dia sobre como ele quer ter o sacerdócio para abençoar sua família, então isso foi incrível! Também estamos trabalhando com um casal chamado Luis e Aida! Eles são simpáticos e esta semana, devemos tirar o seus papeis para se casar! Então as coisas estão indo muito bem agora, estamos apenas tentando encontrar mais e mais pessoas para ensinar.

Atualmente, temos um objetivo de compartilhar cinco cópias do livro de Mórmon todos os dias, então espero que possamos continuar fazendo isso! Porque nós temos feito muito bem, mas quase todos com quem conversamos não querem vir à igreja! Mas oh bem ...

Eu só queria falar um pouco sobre a serie de videos Príncipe da Paz que a igreja fez para a Páscoa. Eu realmente amei os vídeos! Eu sinto o Espírito muito fortemente sempre que eu assisto cada um deles. Meu favorito é o principal. Tenho visto tantos milagres enquanto estive aqui na minha missão, mas um dos maiores é o quanto a paz entra na vida das pessoas que ensinamos sempre que compartilhamos o evangelho com eles. O evangelho, a igreja, trazem uma paz e conforto neste mundo louco em que vivemos. Eu vi essa paz crescer em minha vida e é algo que eu quero para sempre, porque sem Deus tudo parece apenas muito agitado! Mas com o Evangelho e o Espírito, o Senhor nos ajuda a ver as pequenas bênçãos e coisas que tornam nossa vida grande! Tenho um amigo aqui na missão chamado Jorge Dadi! Ele nos ajuda como missionários sempre que temos que ajudar com um divórcio ou um casamento. Além disso, ele me disse que, na semana passada, ele teve a oportunidade de conhecer o Presidente Nelson porque ele foi convidado para uma reunião que o Presidente Nelson teve com um dos clérigos católicos da Igreja Católica aqui em Buenos Aires, então ele me enviou algumas fotos do encontro!

President Russell M. Nelson & "false prophets"

Honestly it was a terrible week because no one is progressing! Everyone just decided to go to satan's side this week... it was horrible! We only had one investigator at church this week and it was Fabian, who isn't married. He really wants to change his life and become a member of the church. He is with Micaela, who we currently started her divorce papers from her last marriage last week so that's going great, and after they can get married. But yeah, apart from them almost everyone has literally told us they don't want to change their lives, they just want to keep living in sin! wow That was strong... but yeah it was sad in that aspect this week.

Anyway, I'm writing today because President Russell M. Nelson, from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, came yesterday to talk to us! What was great was that the whole presidency of the South America South area came as well; President Teixeira, Elder Bragg, and Elder Packer! That was really awesome! They all talked to us! What I liked a lot was that they all talked about love: loving your companions, investigators, areas. They talked about how we need our investigators to feel the Savior's love through us. 

I especially liked that Pres. Nelson explained to us about how we were all chosen before the creation of the earth to be missionaries here in this mission, at this time, in these areas, teaching the gospel to this people who we knew before this life. That really impacted me, that everyone we cross in the street and contact are people we used to associate with before this life. I also loved how he explained a lot about the 12 tribes of Israel and the importance of the Abrahamic covenant. 

I love the gospel and my part in it as a missionary! I honestly love the work I am doing every day to bring more and more souls unto Christ! I know this work is true, I love it so much! I have learned so much from my best and worst days of my life... because my best and worst days have all been here on my mission. My mission has changed lives but more importantly, it has changed mine forever as well!

Easter was alright, nothing big happened, other than we didn't have lunch! Well... we did, but that's because when we took Fabian home after church he asked if we had lunch, and we told him we didn't, so he and Micaela made us lunch, and that was good. Other than that, Easter was just like any other day. For us, Easter is every day, because I know the Atonement of Jesus Christ is for us, and we testify of it always. The Atonement in Spanish is la Expiación.

What was funny was that - I don't know why, this has never happened before - but we had like 3 people scream at us, calling us, "Falsos profetas!" (False prophets) jajaja Yes, so in our Easter, we felt a little bit like Christ. We had people call us false prophets in the street. But we are fine, it was just weird, because Soldati was weird, no one wanted to listen to our message, which is weird because it was Easter so we thought everyone would like to listen to it, but oh well.

It is different and fun living in four Elders in the apartment. Elder Christensen and I live with Elder Hendricks, which is from my district in the MTC, and Elder Martinez, a missionary I have known ever since he started his mission 6 months ago! They are really great and it's fun sharing a pension with them.

We did divisions with Elder Steele and Elder Comp! Elder Steele is the one with the orange tie, and we got pizza as well. They are in an area called Nueva Pompeya which has a Villa but it also has a part with a bunch of apartment buildings.

I bought this sweet Easter chocolate egg for Easter! Here are some photos with some Elders yesterday in the President Nelson meeting. Most of these Elders I have not seen in over 6, 8 months so it was really nice seeing them again before they went home!

I got a couple pictures of the family! All of them are my sons! Elder Scarber, Ellis, Edwards, and Christensen (or step sons, which means a couple of them I finished their trainings), but the one in the left is Elder Tapia, who is my grandson! (son of Elder Scarber). Huge family! :)

Presidente Russell M. Nelson e os 'falsos profetas'

Honestamente foi uma semana terrível porque ninguém está progredindo! Todo mundo decidiu ir para o lado de satanás esta semana ... foi horrível! Nós só tivemos um investigador na igreja esta semana e foi Fabian, que não é casado. Ele realmente quer mudar sua vida e se tornar um membro da igreja. Está com Micaela, que nós começamos recentemente seus papéis do divórcio de seu último casamento assim, embora esteja tudo indo bem, depois de resolvido, eles poderão se casar. Mas sim, além deles quase todo mundo literalmente nos disse que eles não querem mudar suas vidas, eles só querem continuar vivendo em pecado! Wow Isso foi forte ... mas sim, foi triste nesse aspecto esta semana.

De qualquer forma, estou escrevendo hoje porque o Presidente Russell M. Nelson, do Quórum dos Doze Apóstolos, veio ontem falar conosco! O que foi realmente ótimo é que vieram toda a presidência da Área Sul da América do Sul também; Presidente Teixeira, Elder Bragg, e Elder Packer! Isso foi realmente incrível! Todos eles falaram conosco! O que eu realmente gostei foi que todos falaram sobre amor: amar seus companheiros, pesquisadores, áreas. Eles falaram sobre como precisamos ajudar nossos pesquisadores para sentir o amor do Salvador através de nós.

Eu gostei especialmente que Pres. Nelson nos explicou como fomos todos escolhidos antes da criação da Terra para ser missionários aqui nesta missão, neste momento, nessas áreas, ensinando o evangelho a este povo que conhecemos antes desta vida. Isso realmente me impactou, ou seja, todos que cruzamos e contatamos nas ruas são pessoas com quem costumávamos nos associar antes desta vida. Eu também amei como ele explicou muito sobre as 12 tribos de Israel e a importância do convênio Abraâmico.

Eu amo o evangelho e a minha parte nele como missionário! Sinceramente, amo o trabalho que estou fazendo todos os dias para trazer mais e mais almas a Cristo! Eu sei que este trabalho é verdadeiro, eu o amo tanto! Aprendi muito com meus melhores e piores dias da minha vida... porque meus melhores e piores dias estiveram todos aqui na minha missão. Minha missão mudou vidas mas mais importante, mudou a minha para sempre também!

A Páscoa foi tudo bem, nada de grande aconteceu, exceto que não tivemos almoço! Bem... nós acabamos tendo, mas isso é porque quando nós levamos Fabian para casa depois da igreja ele perguntou se nós tínhamos almoço, e nós lhe dissemos que nós não, então ele e Micaela nos fizeram o almoço, e que foi ótimo. Fora isso, a Páscoa foi como qualquer outro dia. Para nós, a Páscoa é todos os dias, porque eu sei que a Expiação de Jesus Cristo é para nós, e testemunhamos dela em todos os momentos. A Expiação em espanhol é la Expiación.

O que foi engraçado foi que, eu não sei por que, isso nunca aconteceu antes, mas nós tivemos umas 3 pessoas gritando conosco, chamando-nos de "Falsos profetas!" jajaja Sim, então na nossa Páscoa, nos sentimos um pouco como Cristo. Nós tínhamos pessoas chamando-nos de falsos profetas na rua. Mas estamos bem, foi estranho, porque Soldati é estranho, ninguém queria ouvir a nossa mensagem, o que é estranho porque era a Páscoa, então pensamos que todos gostariam de ouvi-la, mas oh bem.

O Élder Christensen e eu moramos com o Élder Hendricks, que é do meu distrito no MTC, e o Élder Martinez, um missionário que eu conheço desde que ele começou sua missão há 6 meses! Eles são ótimos e é divertido dividir uma pensão com eles.

Four days with rain

Hello!

It’s been raining for four days nonstop, but anyway, lots of things happened this week! We had a zone conference, went to a place to get my companion new glasses, and had a great fast!

First, our zone conference went really well. We had like a council in our zone about things that are happening in our areas. We also put goals that we want to accomplish this month. Something I love about everything we did was that we talked about the best ways to bring the Spirit into inviting someone to come to church. We must testify at all times! Specially right before we invite them to come so they know the blessings they will receive before coming to church.

Something that I loved this week a lot was the fast me and my companion did in between Sabado y Domingo. We fasted for all our investigators to know their desires and commitment to what we were teaching them. Honestly it helped us out a lot. We found out that four of our investigators liked it when we passed by and talked about Jesus with them, but they weren’t willing to change or come to church. Sadly most of the people we’ve been teaching don’t want to change. So we’ve let a couple of them go, actually most of them, and now we hope to find more. It’s tough, but we had to do it.

I just want to testify about the importance and the blessings that come from fasting. Fasting has helped me a lot during my mission, I have felt closer to my Savior through it. I also know that a lot of blessings come from keeping the commandments. I’ve seen it so many times in the lives of the people I have taught.

We actually get a lot of food! Like too much food! So we always come home with some. In this area, we cook just a little bit, not a ton like I used too. We spend most of our time with the other Elders too. It’s nice having other people there other than just your companion, more people to talk to and share your experiences with!

Quatro dias com chuva!

Olá!

Tem chovido por quatro dias sem parar, mas de qualquer maneira, muitas coisas aconteceram esta semana! Tivemos uma conferência de zona, fomos a um lugar para obter novos óculos para meu companheiro, e tivemos um ótimo jejum!

Primeiro, a nossa conferência de zona foi muito boa. Tivemos tipo uma reunião de conselho em nossa zona sobre coisas que estão acontecendo em nossas áreas. Nós também colocamos metas que queremos realizar este mês. Algo que eu amei sobre tudo o que fizemos foi que falamos sobre as melhores maneiras de levar o Espírito a convidar alguém para ir à igreja. Devemos testemunhar o tempo todo! Especialmente bem antes de convidá-los a vir para que eles saibam as bênçãos que receberão antes de vir à igreja.

Algo que eu amei muito esta semana também foi o jejum que eu e meu companheiro fizemos entre Sábado e Domingo. Nós jejuamos para que todos os nossos pesquisadores soubessem de seus desejos e compromisso com o que lhes estávamos ensinando. Honestamente, ajudou-nos muito. Descobrimos que quatro de nossos pesquisadores gostavam quando passamos e conversamos sobre Jesus com eles, mas eles não estavam dispostos a mudar ou a ir à igreja. Infelizmente, a maioria das pessoas que estamos ensinando não quer mudar. Então nós deixamos um par deles ir, na verdade a maioria deles, e agora esperamos encontrar mais. É difícil, mas tivemos de fazê-lo.

Eu só quero testemunhar sobre a importância das bênçãos que vêm do jejum. O jejum tem me ajudado muito durante a minha missão, senti-me mais perto do meu Salvador através dele. Eu também sei que um monte de bênçãos vêm de manter os mandamentos. Já vi isso acontecer tantas vezes na vida das pessoas que ensinei.

Realmente temos muita comida! Então, sempre chegamos em casa com mais um pouco. Nesta área, eu cozinho apenas um pouco, não uma tonelada como eu precisava antes. Passamos a maior parte do nosso tempo com os outros Elderes que moram conosco também. É bom ter outras pessoas lá além de apenas seu companheiro, mais pessoas para conversar e compartilhar suas experiências!

Desculpe, mas eu não tenho muito tempo hoje.
