One year!

Big week work wise! We met lots of people this week and we got a lot done. Nothing really big happened but we just worked hard. Overall we had a great week. Our investigators are progressing well and us, Elder scarber and I, are progressing too. 

This transfer we are focusing on learning a lot of things! I’m personally starting to read the Old Testament and Jesus the Christ. Jesus the Christ is an awesome book and I really like it! Its super long but I like how it breaks down everything about Jesus. I’m also studying Preach my Gospel a lot. I’ve learned that I like to learn lots of doctrine, but then I got thinking about missionaries and basically... missionaries are like Gospel nerds, because we want to know all the doctrine and all the interesting stuff! jaja

I was also thinking about how I, a Brazilian-American with Italian roots who lives in Utah, is in Argentina preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to random people every day. And on top of that, I’m training and showing a brand new missionary from the United States everything about how to be a missionary. I felt the same way when I got here and I knew Portuguese!  It’s kind of crazy thinking about it because we are here working in Jose C. Paz 1, our Ward, and we are talking to all the members and their neighbors, friends, etc. and inviting them all to come to Church.

What a great work this is. I have been out here for a year and I love this work! It’s fantastic! I know I’m not the best writer or the best speaker or whatever, but I know that this work is true, that its literally the work of the Lord.

Me and Elder Scarber have been really great together. We get along really well and that shows in our work too. We have been blessed thus far with so many things. Something I love that we have done is that Elder Scarber is willing to do divisions already! We meet up with 2 different members and I go with one and he with the other. We have different plans and we can just do twice the work at a time. That’s really helped me because I can go do extra things we have to do in another area. It’s also been helping Elder Scarber because he is with a member that only speaks Spanish and he can practice contacts and talking with people! It’s a win win!

Today we are going to go help some Elders move then we are going to play some soccer and ping pong! so I’m not going to be writing much, but it’s for a good reason!

For the week we have plans to just keep working and finding people around some leaders in the ward, like the Quorum President and the Bishop, so we hope everything will turn out well.

It has been raining a lot here in Argentina recently. As for us here in Jose C. paz, we are doing fine. Yesterday was probably the worst but that’s because it started hailing! They were the size of marbles just falling everywhere, then on top of that it rained really hard and there was lightning. It was actually really calming and sweet, we loved it!

This week I would like to share a scripture I found in Doctrine & Covenants 61: 3. It says:

3 - mas de cierto os digo, que no es menester que esta compañía entera de mis élderes viaje con prisa sobre las aguas, mientras los habitantes de ambos lados perecen en la incredulidad.

3 - But verily I say unto you, that it is not needful for this whole company of mine elders to be moving swiftly upon the waters, whilst the inhabitants on either side are perishing in unbelief.

I really like this scripture because everything moves in the time of the Lord, and it makes me think about everyone who we as missionaries come in contact with. How we are looking for that perfect family where everyone in interested, the parents are married, they can come to church, etc. and we pass by so many people during the day who we invited who aren’t married, who can’t come to church this week, etc. and us as missionaries just kind of leave them an invitation, and then we leave. That’s not what Jesus would do. This is what I’ve been thinking about a lot this week. About how many people get left behind when we personally are so focused on getting something done. We have to be tranquilo, have patience, work with what we have. That’s something I’ve learned this week about how the work is moving forward, but all of it is moving at different speeds.

I just want to invite everyone to help someone out, because somedays we are so focused on the little things in our life when a big thing for someone else’s life flies by.

Um ano!

Grande semana de trabalho! Nós conhecemos muitas pessoas esta semana e nós fizemos muita coisa. Nada realmente grande aconteceu, mas nós só trabalhamos realmente duro. No geral, tivemos uma grande semana. Nossos investigadores estão progredindo bem e nós, Elder scarber e eu, estamos progredindo muito.

Nesta transferência estamos nos concentrando em aprender um monte de coisas! Eu pessoalmente estou começando a ler o Antigo Testamento e Jesus O Cristo. Jesus, O Cristo é um livro incrível e eu realmente gosto dele! Parece super longo, mas eu gosto de como ele detalha tudo sobre Jesus. Eu também estou estudando Pregar Meu Evangelho muito. Eu aprendi que eu gosto de aprender muita doutrina, mas então eu fui pensar sobre missionários e basicamente ... missionários são como estudiosos do Evangelho, porque nós queremos saber toda a doutrina e todo e qualquer material interessante! jaja 

Eu também estava pensando sobre como eu, um brasileiro-americano com raízes italianas que vive em Utah, está na Argentina pregando o Evangelho de Jesus Cristo a pessoas aleatórias a cada dia. E mais ainda, estou treinando e mostrando tudo a um novo missionário dos Estados Unidos como ser um missionário. Eu senti o mesmo quando eu cheguei aqui e eu sabia Português! É meio louco pensar nisso, porque estamos aqui trabalhando em José C. Paz 1, a nosso Ala, e estamos a falar para todos os membros e os seus vizinhos, amigos, etc., e convidando a todos que venham a Igreja.

Que grande obra que é isso. Eu estive aqui por um ano e eu amo este trabalho! É fantástico! Eu sei que eu não sou o melhor escritor ou o melhor orador ou o qualquer coisa assim, mas eu sei que esta obra é verdadeira, que é literalmente a obra do Senhor. 

Eu e Elder Scarber trabalhamos realmente bem em conjunto. Nós nos damos muito bem e que mostra em nosso trabalho também. Fomos abençoados, até agora, com tantas coisas. Algo que eu amo o que temos feito é que Elder Scarber está disposto a fazer divisões já! Nós nos encontramos com 2 membros diferentes e eu vou com um e ele vai com outro. Temos planos diferentes e nós podemos praticamente fazer o dobro do trabalho de cada vez. Isso realmente me ajudou, porque eu posso ir fazer coisas extras que temos que fazer em outra área. Isso também tem ajudado Elder Scarber porque ele está com um membro que só fala espanhol e ele pode praticar contatos e conversar com as pessoas! É uma vitória da vitória!

Hoje nós estamos indo ajudar alguns Elderes a mudarem, em seguida, vamos jogar um pouco de futebol e ping pong! Então eu não vou escrever muito, mas é por uma boa razão! 

Para a semana temos planos de continuar trabalhando e encontrar pessoas ao redor de alguns líderes da ala, como o presidente do quórum e do Bispo, por isso, espero que tudo saia bem. 

Tem chovido muito aqui na Argentina recentemente. Quanto a nós aqui em José C. Paz, estamos indo bem. Ontem foi provavelmente o pior tempo, mas isso é porque ele começou a chover granizo! Eles eram do tamanho de bolas de gude apenas caindo em todos os lugares, em seguida, em cima disso ainda choveu muito forte com muitos relâmpagos. Foi realmente muito calmante e bom na verdade, nós amamos isso!

Esta semana eu gostaria de compartilhar uma escritura que se encontra em Doutrina e Convênios 61:3. Diz:

Eu realmente gosto desta escritura porque tudo se move no tempo do Senhor, e isso me faz pensar em todas as pessoas que nós como missionários entramos em contato. Como estamos procurando pela família perfeita, onde todos estejam interessados, os pais são casados, que possam vir à igreja, etc,  nós acabamos passando por tantas pessoas boas durante o dia que nós convidamos mas que não são casados, que não podem vir à igreja esta semana, etc, e nós, como missionários apenas lhes deixamos uma espécie de convite, e depois vamos embora. Isso não é o que Jesus faria. Isto é o que eu estive pensando sobre um monte nesta semana. Sobre quantas pessoas ficam para trás quando nós, pessoalmente, somos tão focados em obter resultados. Temos de ser tranquilos, ter paciência, trabalhar com o que temos. Isso é algo que eu aprendi esta semana sobre como o trabalho está a avançar, mas tudo isso está se movendo em velocidades diferentes.

Eu só quero convidar a todos para que possam ajudar alguém, porque alguns dias nós estamos tão focados em pequenas coisas em nossa vida enquanto algo que seria uma grande coisa para a vida de alguém passa despercebido.

Obrigado por tudo, por todas as orações, e por ler isso! Eu aprendi muito neste um ano de trabalho, e estou animado para o próximo ano também!
