Hello mom! Hi everyone!
This was a good week. it was my first full week with Elder Fleming
and he is pretty awesome.
We had a pretty bad week (visits and numbers wise) but
yesterday we just exploded! The miracles started happening before we even had the
baptism yesterday. First we went to go pick up Jesus in the morning and his
family was getting ready to come to church, yes his whole family came. That was
like 7 extra people coming to Church with us. then guess what? We got to church
and there was a man there, his name is David. We didn’t know him and no one
else knew him either, but when we went to go talk to him he said that one day
he saw our church and was thinking about going for like 3 months, and Saturday
he finally said that he was going to come so he came yesterday. He is great and
we invited him to see the baptism of Jesus. After the baptism we talked to him
and now he has a baptismal date for the 27th of this month! He was a miracle! Many
other things happened yesterday that just made our day great! We had like all
our numbers for the week doubled yesterday alone! It was a great day!
I’m really happy I got the opportunity to baptize Jesus Gomez!
He is a great kid, plus he adds to our group of 2 young men because he is 12
years old so that’s awesome. He was really nervous throughout the whole baptism
but in the end he was awesome. I love this kid he is going to do great things! I’m
really happy for him. :)
So [about the Elder Lorenzetti Ayres plaque] I had to
special order this plaque! it was literally SO hard to get it! In the end I
only got it because I was born in Brasil, because here on the mission you can
only have 2 last names on your plaque if you’re Latino, but yeah it would be
sweet if that was part of my name on paper! I’ll try to take more pictures with
it this week!
Every day I try to do the best I can, especially now because
I’ve almost got like 9 months! I’m trying to work the best I can every day
because I’m here to help the Lord with his work. When people ask me how many
baptisms I have on my mission I always say 0 (zero) because honestly, something
I’ve come to realize as a missionary is that you, as a missionary, don’t do
much. God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are the teachers. They are the ones
converting people out here. All I do is keep myself worthy to be able to share this
message with them, in everything I do and say. That’s something I’ve learned
out here that’s really meant a lot to me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to
serve the Lord and serve others every day. :)
This week I started reading the bible a little bit and that
reminded me of my favorite story in the bible! this is it: Luke 24:13-33
13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a
village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore
furlongs.
14 And they talked together of all these things which
had happened.
15 And it came to pass, that, while they
communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went
with them.
16 But their eyes were holden that they should not
know him.
17 And he said unto them, What manner of
communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and
are sad?
18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas,
answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not
known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said
unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and
word before God and all the people:
20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered
him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21 But we trusted that it had been he which should
have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, today is the third day since these
things were done.
22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us
astonished, which were early at the sepulcher;
23 And when they found not his body, they came,
saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was
alive.
24 And certain of them which were with us went to the
sepulcher, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw
not.
25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart
to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things,
and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they
went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us:
for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry
with them.
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them,
he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and
he vanished out of their sight.
32 And they said one to another, did not our heart
burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us
the scriptures?
33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to
Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with
them,
34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared
to Simon.
35 And they told what things were done in the way, and
how he was known of them in breaking of bread.
36 ¶And as they thus spake, Jesus
himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
I LOVE this story! I don’t know if you can look this up but it’s
awesome.

Olá mãe! Olá a todos!Esta foi uma boa semana. foi a minha primeira semana inteira com o Élder Fleming e ele é bastante impressionante.
Tivemos uma semana muito ruim (visitas e números de investigadores), mas ontem nós simplesmente explodimos! Os milagres começaram a acontecer antes mesmo do batismo ontem. Primeiro fomos buscar Jesus na parte da manhã e sua família estava se preparando para ir à igreja, sim toda a sua família veio. Isso foi tipo 7 pessoas extras que vieram à igreja conosco. Em seguida, adivinhem? Chegamos na igreja e havia um homem lá, seu nome é David. Nós não o conheciamos e mais ninguém o conhecia, mas quando fomos conversar com ele, ele disse que um dia ele viu nossa igreja e estava pensando em vir por 3 meses, e sábado, ele finalmente disse que ele viria então ele veio ontem. Ele é muito bom e nós o convidamos para estar para o batismo de Jesus. Após o batismo falamos com ele e agora ele tem uma data de batismo para o dia 27 deste mês! Ele foi um milagre! Muitas outras coisas aconteceram ontem que apenas fez o nosso dia grande! Praticamente tivemos todos os nossos números da semana dobrados somente ontem! Foi um grande dia!
Eu estou realmente feliz que eu tive a oportunidade de batizar Jesus Gomez! Ele é um grande garoto, e ele contribui para o nosso grupo de 2 rapazes agora, porque ele tem 12 anos, então isso é incrível.
Ele estava muito nervoso durante todo o batismo, mas no final ele foi incrível. Eu amo esse garoto que ele vai fazer grandes coisas! Estou muito feliz por ele. :)
Então [sobre a plaqueta com Elder Lorenzetti Ayres] eu tinha feito uma ordem especial dessa placa! Foi literalmente tão duro para obtê-la! No
final, eu só consegui porque eu nasci no Brasil, porque aqui na
missão, você só pode ter 2 sobrenomes em sua placa se for Latino,
mas sim seria doce se isso fosse parte do meu nome no papel! Vou tentar tirar mais fotos com ela esta semana!
Todos os dias eu tento fazer o melhor que posso, especialmente agora porque eu tenho quase 9 meses! Eu estou tentando trabalhar o melhor que posso todos os dias porque eu estou aqui para ajudar o Senhor com o seu trabalho. Quando me perguntam quantos batismos eu tenho na minha missão eu sempre digo 0 (zero) porque, honestamente, algo que eu vim a perceber como missionário é que você, como um missionário, não faz muito. Deus, Jesus Cristo, e o Espírito Santo são os professores. Eles são os únicos que convertem as pessoas aqui no campo. Tudo o que faço é me manter digno de ser capaz de compartilhar esta mensagem com eles em tudo o que faço e digo. Isso é algo que eu aprendi aqui que é realmente muito significante para mim. Sou grato pela oportunidade de servir ao Senhor e servir aos outros todos os dias. :)
Esta semana eu comecei a ler a Bíblia um pouco e que me fez lembrar da minha história favorita na Bíblia que esta em Lucas 24: 13-33:
13 E eis que no mesmo dia iam dois deles para uma aldeia, que distava de Jerusalém sessenta estádios, cujo nome era Emaús;
15 E aconteceu que, indo eles falando entre si, e perguntando-se um ao outro, o próprio Jesus se aproximou, e ia com eles;
17 E ele lhes disse: Que palavras são essas que, caminhando, trocais entre vós, e por que estais tristes?
18 E respondendo um, cujo nome era Cleofas, disse-lhe: És tu só peregrino em Jerusalém, e não sabes as coisas que nela têm sucedido nestes dias?
19 E ele lhes disse: Quais? E eles lhe disseram: As que dizem respeito a Jesus Nazareno, que foi profeta, poderoso em obras e palavras diante de Deus e de todo o povo;
20 E como os principais dos sacerdotes, e os nossos príncipes o entregaram à condenação de morte, e o crucificaram;
21 E nós esperávamos que fosse ele o que redimisse Israel; mas agora, além de tudo isso, é já hoje o terceiro dia desde que essas coisas aconteceram;
22 Ainda que também algumas mulheres dentre nós nos maravilharam, as quais de madrugada foram ao sepulcro;
23 E não achando o seu corpo, voltaram, dizendo que também tinham visto uma visão de anjos, que dizem que ele vive;
24 E alguns dos que estão conosco foram ao sepulcro, e acharam ser assim como as mulheres haviam dito; porém a ele não o viram.
27 E começando por Moisés, e por todos os profetas, explicava-lhes em todas as escrituras o que dele estava escrito.
29 E eles o constrangeram, dizendo: Fica conosco, porque já é tarde, e já declinou o dia. E entrou para ficar com eles.
32 E disseram um para o outro: Porventura não ardia em nós o nosso coração quando, pelo caminho nos falava, e quando nos abria as escrituras?
33 E na mesma hora, levantando-se, retornaram para Jerusalém, e acharam congregados os onze, e os que estavam com eles,
35 E eles lhes contaram o que lhes acontecera no caminho, e como por eles foi reconhecido no partir do pão.
36 E falando eles dessas coisas, o próprio Jesus se apresentou no meio deles, e disse-lhes: Paz seja convosco.
