Independencia de Argentina

Yesterday, 9th of July was the independence of Argentina! Woooo and we sang their national anthem... and I don’t want to offend anyone but I didn’t like it that much! The US and Brazil ones are better in my opinion. 

Anyway, we had kind of of bad week cause of all the rain. We tried talking to people and everything but everyone just gets really lazy when it rains! It’s terrible! jaja I love the rain but for the whole week?... not that much. Other than that we are great. The district is doing really well right now even though it’s just us, the other missionaries in Soldati, and the missionaries of Almagro. We are having lots of success and seeing many blessings in our work. Us here in Soldati are doing well, Sabrina was baptized, and if all goes well Eymi y Gustavo will be getting baptized this weekend! So the Lord is blessing us a lot right now. Our other investigators are Alfredo y Paulina, Juan Pablo, and Mariana are progressing well but they didn’t come to church! We also found a guy named Efrain in the villa! jaja (in English it would be Ephraim). We also talked to his wife Noemi and they seem pretty interested, we are going to talk to them tomorrow, so I hope all goes well.

This week I found myself studying a lot about sacrifice. sacrifice for us means putting the will of god first, then ours. For me the biggest example of sacrifice has to be Jesus. But another one is Abraham. The faith that he had to take his son to the altar had to of been huge, but sometimes we forget the faith that the son had too. He didn’t know he was going to be sacrificed, and when he found out he decided to do it, because it was the will of the Lord. We can read his son wasn’t little, he was already an adult. The importance of sacrificing everything to the Lord and doing His will is huge.

In Gospel Principles, Chapter 26 it says:

“Sacrifice Helps Us Prepare to Live in the Presence of God

Only through sacrifice can we become worthy to live in the presence of God. Only through sacrifice can we enjoy eternal life. Many who have lived before us have sacrificed all they had. We must be willing to do the same if we would earn the rich reward they enjoy.

We may not be asked to sacrifice all things. But like Abraham, we should be willing to sacrifice everything to become worthy to live in the presence of the Lord.

The Lord’s people have always sacrificed greatly and in many different ways. Some have suffered hardship and ridicule for the gospel. Some new converts to the Church have been cut off from their families. Lifetime friends have turned away. Some members have lost their jobs; some have lost their lives. But the Lord notices our sacrifices; He promises, “Every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life” (Matthew 19:29)."

Sacrifice brings blessings. I know this is true, because I have seen it in my life and in the lives of others. I’m so grateful for the gospel, so grateful for the time I have to serve the Lord.

Here you can see a picture with Elder Comp, of food we made this last week! The last ones are of a song we wrote for my ukelele. Some of the words were written by Elder Steele and Elder Comp from Pompeya but Elder Freitas and I finished it this week! It goes to a beat of a song called Despacito, which is a horrible song which you guys should NEVER listen to. Serious! We just made this song because Despacito is a song that’s super popular here in Argentina and we listen to it at least 3 or 4 times every day while we are walking in the villa. So we had to make a clean version of it that talked about baptism!

Ontem, 9 de julho foi a independência da Argentina! Woooo e nós cantamos seu hino nacional... e eu não quero ofender ninguém, mas não gostei muito... Os hinos dos EUA e do Brasil são melhores na minha opinião.

De qualquer forma, tivemos uma espécie de causa de semana ruim de toda a chuva. Nós tentamos conversar com pessoas e tudo, mas todos simplesmente ficam preguiçosos quando chove! É terrível! Jaja Eu amo a chuva, mas durante toda a semana?... não tanto. Fora isso, estamos ótimos. O distrito está indo muito bem agora mesmo que seja apenas nós, os outros missionários de Soldati e os missionários de Almagro. Estamos tendo muito sucesso e vendo muitas bênçãos em nosso trabalho. Nós aqui em Soldati estamos indo bem, Sabrina foi batizada, e se tudo correr bem Eymi y Gustavo serão batizados neste fim de semana! Então o Senhor está nos abençoando muito agora. Nossos outros investigadores são Alfredo y Paulina, Juan Pablo e Mariana estão progredindo bem, mas eles não vieram para a igreja! Nós também encontramos um rapaz chamado Efrain na vila! Jaja (em inglês seria Ephraim). Nós também conversamos com sua esposa Noemi e eles parecem muito interessados, vamos conversar com eles amanhã, então espero que tudo dê certo.

Esta semana eu me achei estudando muito sobre sacrifício. Sacrifício para nós significa colocar a vontade de Deus primeiro, depois a nossa. Para mim, o maior exemplo de sacrifício foi Jesus. Mas outro é Abraão. A fé que ele deve ter tido em levar seu filho ao altar teve que ser enorme, mas às vezes esquecemos a fé que o filho também teve. Ele não sabia que ele seria sacrificado, e quando descobriu, ele ainda decidiu fazê-lo, porque era a vontade do Senhor. Podemos ler que seu filho não era pequeno, ele já era um adulto. A importância de sacrificar tudo ao Senhor e fazer a Sua vontade é enorme.

Nos Princípios do Evangelho, o Capítulo 26 diz:

"O sacrifício ajuda-nos a se preparar para viver na presença de Deus
Somente através do sacrifício, podemos ser dignos de viver na presença de Deus. Somente através do sacrifício podemos desfrutar da vida eterna. Muitos que viveram antes de nós sacrificaram tudo o que tinham. Devemos estar dispostos a fazer o mesmo se ganharmos a rica recompensa que eles apreciam.

Podemos não ser convidados a sacrificar tudo. Mas, como Abraão, devemos estar dispostos a sacrificar tudo para nos tornar dignos de viver na presença do Senhor.

O povo do Senhor sempre sacrificou muito e de muitas maneiras diferentes. Muitos sofreram dificuldades e vergonha pelo evangelho. Alguns novos conversos para a Igreja foram cortados de suas famílias. Amigos da vida se afastaram. Alguns membros perderam seus empregos. Alguns perderam a vida. Mas o Senhor percebe os nossos sacrifícios; Ele promete: "Todo aquele que abandonou casas, ou irmãos, ou irmãs, ou pai, ou mãe, ou esposa, ou filhos, ou terras, por amor de meu nome, receberá cem vezes e herdará a vida eterna" (Mateus 19:29) ".

O sacrifício traz bênçãos. Eu sei que isso é verdade, porque eu vi isso na minha vida e na vida dos outros. Sou tão grato pelo evangelho, tão agradecido pelo tempo que tenho para servir o Senhor.

Nós acabamos de fazer esta música porque Despacito é uma música que é super popular aqui na Argentina e nós a escutamos pelo menos 3 ou 4 vezes todos os dias enquanto caminhamos na vila. Então tivemos que fazer uma versão limpa da musica que fala sobre o batismo!
