Last Week of the Best Two Years!

This has been a good week! It’s been super cold lately like some members are saying it’s going to snow (which hasn’t happened in Buenos Aires in like 10 years), but other than that it was great!

Eymi and Gustavo were baptized this week! We have also found a lot of new people to teach! It was a week of letting go unfortunately of some investigators that weren’t progressing. Then a couple hours, days, or sometimes minutes passed by, and we would find someone new who is interested. The Lord really does bless us when we act in faith.

The work has been going great lately! Many miracles are happening all around us.

This week in my studies I read a lot about faith. Especially in Hebrews 11. I love this chapter because it was written specifically for us, the members of the Church. All the examples of faith that we can find in this chapter are incredible. I love how it shares lots of examples from when the worlds were formed to Moses and much more.

As I studied and read all the references to the stories in the scriptures I felt like my personal faith was growing. In my mission, I have learned so much about faith, at times I have even asked myself if I have faith, because faith isn’t just believing in something that you can’t see, it’s much more than that. It is acting, doing the will of the Lord, believing, sharing. It’ll never stop growing. It has so many attributes, and if it’s not growing, it’s diminishing. Faith is incredible and is the center of the gospel. We as missionaries teach that faith in Jesus Christ is the very first principle of His gospel. Without faith, we don’t receive answers nor see blessings.

We need to believe in Jesus Christ. We need to believe in all He did; His sacrifice, His teachings. and in all He will do for us. To have faith, like I said before, it’s acting and sharing what we know. In Hebrews 11 one story really stood out to me; in verse 30 it talks about the walls of Jericho and how they fell. I read the references that sent me to Joshua 6, and it says:

    1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

    2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

    3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go around about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

    4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

    5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

So they received these instructions, and while we read, we can see there was no hesitation. The soldiers knew that it was a revelation from God and they followed it with exact obedience. And in verse 20 it says:

    20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

Faith drove them to act, they put their trust in God, and the promise was kept. I know that if we have faith, if we act by it, all the promises that God has made to us will be fulfilled. And we learn in D&C 82:10 that:

“I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise.”

I’m so grateful for these two years. I’m good, just feel a little weird, like… I feel like I’m just going to start another transfer in a new area, new companion and everything, but oh well.

I am so grateful to all the support and love I have received from my family, friends and all that have prayed, written and helped me in anyway. Thank you so much everyone for everything!

Última Semana dos Dois Melhores Anos!

Esta foi uma boa semana! Foi super frio ultimamente, como alguns membros estão dizendo, parece que vai nevar (o que não acontece em Buenos Aires em 10 anos), mas, apesar disso, foi ótimo!

Eymi e Gustavo foram batizados esta semana! Nós também encontramos muitas pessoas novas para ensinar! Foi uma semana de deixar infelizmente alguns pesquisadores que não estavam progredindo. Então, algumas horas, dias ou às vezes minutos que se passavam, e encontrávamos alguém novo interessado. O Senhor realmente nos abençoa quando agimos com fé.

O trabalho está ótimo ultimamente! Muitos milagres estão acontecendo ao nosso redor.

Esta semana, em meus estudos, li muito sobre fé. Especialmente em Hebreus 11. Eu amo este capítulo porque foi escrito especificamente para nós, os membros da Igreja. Todos os exemplos de fé que podemos encontrar neste capítulo são incríveis. Eu amo como estas escrituras têm muitos exemplos de quando os mundos foram formados até Moisés e muitos mais.

Ao estudar e ler todas as referências às histórias nas escrituras, senti que minha fé pessoal tem crescido. Na minha missão, aprendi muito sobre fé, às vezes me perguntei se tenho fé, porque a fé não é apenas acreditar em algo que não pode ver, é muito mais do que isso. Sua ação, fazendo a vontade do Senhor, acreditando, compartilhando. Nunca vai parar de crescer. Tem tantos atributos, e se não está crescendo, está diminuindo. A fé é incrível e é o centro do evangelho. Nós, como missionários, ensinamos que a fé em Jesus Cristo é o primeiro princípio de Seu evangelho. Sem fé, não recebemos respostas nem conseguimos enxergar bênçãos.

Precisamos acreditar em Jesus Cristo. Precisamos acreditar em tudo o que Ele fez; Seu sacrifício, Seus ensinamentos. E em tudo o que Ele fará por nós. Para ter fé, como eu disse antes, depende de agirmos e compartilharmo o que sabemos. Em Hebreus 11, uma história realmente se destacou para mim; No versículo 30 fala sobre as paredes de Jericó e como elas caíram. Eu leio as referências que me enviaram a Josué 6 que diz:

1 Ora, Jericó fechou-se, e estava fechada por causa dos filhos de Israel; ninguém saía nem entrava.

2 Então disse o Senhor a Josué: Olha, dei na tua mão Jericó e o seu rei, os seus valentes e valorosos.

3 Vós, pois, todos os homens de guerra, rodeareis a cidade, cercando a cidade uma vez; assim fareis por seis dias.

4 E sete sacerdotes levarão sete buzinas de carneiro diante da arca, e no sétimo dia rodeareis a cidade sete vezes; e os sacerdotes tocarão as buzinas.

5 E acontecerá que, tocando-se longamente a buzina de carneiro, ouvindo vós o sonido da buzina, todo o povo gritará com grande alarido; e o muro da cidade cairá abaixo, e o povo subirá nele, cada qual no lugar em frente de si.

Então eles receberam essas instruções, e enquanto lemos, podemos ver que não houve hesitação. Os soldados sabiam que era uma revelação de Deus e seguiram com obediência exata. E no versículo 20 diz:

20 Gritou, pois, o povo, tocando os sacerdotes as buzinas; e sucedeu que, ouvindo o povo o sonido da buzina, gritou o povo com grande alarido; e o muro caiu abaixo, e o povo subiu à cidade, cada qual no lugar em frente de si, e tomaram a cidade.

A fé os levou a agir, eles confiaram em Deus e a promessa foi mantida. Eu sei que, se tivermos fé, se agirmos por ela, todas as promessas que Deus nos fez serão cumpridas. E aprendemos em D&C 82:10 que:

"Eu, o Senhor, estou obrigado quando fazeis o que eu digo; mas quando não o fazeis, não tendes promessa alguma."

Sou tão grato por estes dois anos. Estou bem, só me sinto um pouco estranho, como ... Sinto que vou começar uma nova transferência em uma nova área, um novo companheiro e tudo, mas bem.

Estou tão agradecido com todo o apoio e amor que recebi da minha família, dos amigos e de todos os que oraram, escreveram e me ajudaram de qualquer maneira. Muito obrigado a todos por tudo!
