Rocio!

Let’s start!

This was a good week, lots of miracles! We had lots of great things happen for us this week. We really could see the power of prayer this week in the work. I want to thank everyone who is praying for us and for missionaries around the world because honestly it’s great! It really helps us out a lot!

We were blessed with one baptism this week and we were super happy for it! But something that happened this week that was really sad was that we had the farewell for our mission president! President and Sister Ayre are going home tomorrow! And President and Sister Smith are coming tomorrow too, so we have lots of changes happening in the mission this week! I hope not too many. but I’m really going to miss President Ayre. He is a great man and he helped me out so much. I’m so grateful for him and his diligent service to the Lord. He has really changed so many lives on his mission, and one of them has been mine. Love you President Ayre!

We had a baptism this week de Rocio! Sometimes you just have a baptism where you just look at it and your like, "I as a missionary didn’t do anything. I just came, talked for a little bit and testified." That’s how you feel sometimes when you find someone that’s ready to change their life. And Rocio, she was ready! She is a great person and overcame so much for her baptism and we are very happy for her!

These coming weeks we are going to work a lot with our investigators Alma, Franco, Federico, Mia, and Veronica! We are seeing miracles everyday so please help us out and keep us in your prayers. We are really happy to be working here and we are privileged to be serving the Lord.

Being a missionary really is an amazing calling, something I love about it is the Preach My Gospel manual. I know that everything in that manual is true. That it’s one of the most correct books in all the earth cause it’s inspired by God. One of my favorite parts of Preach My Gospel is in chapter one that talks about this:

“A Successful Missionary

Your success as a missionary is measured primarily by your commitment to find, teach, baptize, and confirm people and to help them become faithful members of the Church who enjoy the presence of the Holy Ghost.

Avoid comparing yourself to other missionaries and measuring the outward results of your efforts against theirs. Remember that people have agency to choose whether to accept your message. Your responsibility is to teach clearly and powerfully so they can make a correct choice. Some may not accept your message even when they have received a spiritual witness that it is true. You will be saddened because you love them and desire their salvation. You should not, however, become discouraged; discouragement will weaken your faith. If you lower your expectations, your effectiveness will decrease, your desire will weaken, and you will have greater difficulty following the Spirit.

You can know you have been a successful missionary when you:

• Feel the Spirit testify to people through you.
• Love people and desire their salvation.
• Obey with exactness.
• Live so that you can receive and know how to follow the Spirit, who will show you where to go, what to do, and what to say?
• Develop Christ like attributes.
• Work effectively every day, do your very best to bring souls to Christ, and seek earnestly to learn and improve.
• Help build up the Church (the ward) wherever you are assigned to work.
• Warn people of the consequences of sin. Invite them to make and keep commitments.
• Teach and serve other missionaries.
• Go about doing good and serving people at every opportunity, whether or not they accept your message.

When you have done your very best, you may still experience disappointments, but you will not be disappointed in yourself. You can feel certain that the Lord is pleased when you feel the Spirit working through you.”

I just love that first chapter! Cause it’s all about our commitment to what we do every day.

Pics 1 to 3 - This is a picture of a dog our investigator Alma has. The second is a picture of us eating with Elder Yeoman and Elder Hendricks after a zone meeting we had! Last one is us right before the baptism of Rocio! The girl in blue, her name is Rocio too, and the boy in the red tie, his name is Alan, and they are the 2 members that help us out the most! They are both going on mission soon too! Rocio is going on a mission to Colombia and Alan is going to Mexico! The girl who got baptized, Rocio, has been best friends with them for over 10 years!

Pics 7 to 9 - Us taking a bathroom picture! A picture of me and Elder Fleming!! I love him! Oh and this last one.... woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! That’s David, me and Elder Fleming’s convert, and he and Hermana Cordoba are going to get married!!!!?? Hermana Cordoba was like the mom of the missionaries in my last area and David is our convert so I’m super happy for them!!

They didn’t know each other before his baptism! I and Elder Fleming took him to her house to meet her one day, so ever since then Elder Fleming told me that he always goes over to her house! Then he got a haircut and shaved his beard and proposed!! That’s crazy!

Pics 10 to 12 - Picture of us writing last p-day! Us a couple days before the baptism of Rocio, and the daughter of a member! Her name is Bianca and she is a cute kid!

Pics 13 to 15 - A picture of the area where we work at most now. I got a haircut! A less active member cut my hair for free! She is the mom of our investigator Alma! Then me and Elder Fleming again... eating more food.  ;)

Pics 20 to 22 - Alright so last night we had an activity with President Ayre where we had to bring an investigator, so we took Rocio and her brother Federico with us! The other Rocio, the member, came along with us, but we got to see this super spiritual program that really helped our investigators out. Then after that I went to talk with President and took a picture with him! I love President Ayre and I’m really going to miss him!

Pic 24 to 26 – The first one... remember how I said David was going to get married with Hermana Cordoba? I’m talking to him just now by email and he just sent me this picture of him with Selene!! He confirmed they are getting married!!!!!!! That’s awesome! He said he is in the process of adopting Selene right now! That’s awesome!

The other picture is me with President and Sister Ayre’s family. Love them so much!

Vamos lá!

Esta foi uma boa semana, com muitos milagres! Tivemos muitas coisas boas acontecendo para nós esta semana. Nós realmente pudemos ver o poder da oração esta semana no trabalho. Quero agradecer a todos que estão orando por nós e para os missionários de todo o mundo, porque honestamente é ótimo! Realmente nos ajuda muito!

Fomos abençoados com um batismo esta semana e estamos super felizes por isso! Mas algo que aconteceu esta semana que foi realmente triste foi que tivemos a despedida do nosso Presidente de Missão! Presidente e a irmã Ayre estão indo para casa amanhã! E o Presidente e a irmã Smith estão vindo amanhã também, então temos muitas mudanças acontecendo na missão esta semana! Espero que não demasiados, mas eu realmente vou sentir falta de Presidente Ayre. Ele é um grande homem e ele me ajudou muito. Eu sou tão grato por ele e seu serviço diligente ao Senhor. Ele realmente mudou tantas vidas em sua missão, e uma delas foi a minha. Te amo Presidente Ayre!

Tivemos um batismo esta semana de Rocio! Às vezes, você tem um daqueles batismos em que você simplesmente olhar para ela e diz, "Eu como missionário não fiz nada. Eu só vim, conversamos um pouco e testemunhei." Isso é como você se sente, por vezes, quando você encontra alguém que está pronto para mudar a sua vida. E Rocio, ela estava pronta! Ela é uma ótima pessoa e superou tanto para poder ser batizada e estamos muito felizes por ela!

Estas próximas semanas vamos trabalhar muito com os nossos investigadores Alma, Franco, Federico, Mia, e Veronica! Estamos vendo milagres todos os dias por isso, por favor nos ajude e mantenha-nos em suas orações. Estamos muito felizes em trabalhar aqui e ter o privilégio de estar servindo ao Senhor.

Ser missionário é realmente um chamado surpreendente, algo que eu amo sobre ele é o manual Pregar Meu Evangelho. Eu sei que tudo nesse manual é verdade. Que é um dos livros mais corretos em toda a face da terra e que é inspirado por Deus. Uma das minhas partes favoritas de Pregar Meu Evangelho está no primeiro capítulo que fala sobre isso:

"Um Missionário de Sucesso

Seu sucesso como missionário é medido principalmente pelo seu compromisso de encontrar, ensinar, batizar e confirmar as pessoas e ajudá-los a tornarem-se membros fiéis da Igreja que apreciam a presença do Espírito Santo.

Evite comparar-se com outros missionários e medir os resultados exteriores de seus esforços contra os deles. Lembre-se que as pessoas têm liberdade de escolher se aceitam ou não a sua mensagem. Sua responsabilidade é ensinar clara e poderosamente para que eles possam fazer uma escolha correta. Alguns podem não aceitar a sua mensagem, mesmo quando eles receberam um testemunho espiritual que é verdade. Você vai ficar triste, porque você os ama e deseja sua salvação. Você não deve, no entanto, tornar-se desanimado; desencorajamento vai enfraquecer a sua fé. Se você reduzir as suas expectativas, sua eficácia diminui, seu desejo vai enfraquecer, e você terá maior dificuldade em seguir o Espírito.

• Ensina e serve outros missionários.

• Faz o bem e serve as pessoas em todas as oportunidades, quer aceitem ou não a sua mensagem.

Mesmo quando você tiver feito o seu melhor, você ainda pode enfrentar decepções, mas você não vai se decepcionar consigo mesmo. Você pode sentir a certeza de que o Senhor está satisfeito quando você sente o Espírito trabalhando através de você. "

Eu adoro esse primeiro capítulo! Porque é tudo sobre o nosso compromisso que fazemos todos os dias.

A última somos nós está logo antes do batismo de Rocio! A menina de azul, o nome dela é Rocio também, e o menino de gravata vermelha, seu nome é Alan, e eles são os 2 membros que nos ajudam mais! Ambos estão indo em missão em breve também! Rocio vai em uma missão para a Colômbia e Alan está indo para o México! A menina que foi batizada, Rocio, tem sido melhores amigos com eles há mais de 10 anos!

Fotos 7 a 9 – Nós tiramos uma foto no banheiro! Uma imagem de mim e Elder Fleming !! Eu amo-o! Ah, e este último .... woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! Isso é David, o converso que eu e Elder Fleming batizamos, e ele e Hermana Cordoba vão se casar!!!! ?? Hermana Cordoba era como a mãe dos missionários na minha última área e David é o nosso converso, então eu estou super feliz por eles!!

Eles não se conheciam antes de David se batizar! Eu e Elder Fleming o levamos para a casa dela para conhecê-la um dia, por isso, desde então, Elder Fleming me disse que ele sempre vai até a casa dela! Em seguida, ele cortou o cabelo e barbeou-se e propôs casamento a ela!! Isso é louco!

Fotos 10 a 12 - Imagem de nós escrevendo emails para nossas famílias no último p-day! Nós um par de dias antes do batismo do Rocio, e a filha de um membro! Seu nome é Bianca e ela é uma garotinha sapequinha!

Fotos 13 a 15 - Uma imagem da área onde trabalhamos muito agora. Eu tive um corte de cabelo! Uma membro menos ativa cortou meu cabelo de graça! Ela é a mãe da nossa investigadora Alma! Então eu e Elder Fleming novamente ... comendo mais um pouco. ;)

Fotos 19 a 22 – Domingo à noite tivemos uma atividade com o Presidente Ayre onde tínhamos que trazer um investigador, portanto, levamos Rocio e seu irmão Federico com a gente! A outra Rocio e Alan também vieram junto com a gente, e tivemos este programa super espiritual que realmente ajudou nossos investigadores e muito. Então, depois eu fui falar com o Presidente e tiramos uma foto com ele! Eu amo o Presidente Ayre e eu realmente vou sentir falta dele!

Fotos 24 a 26 - A primeiro ... lembra como eu disse que David ia se casar com Hermana Cordoba? Eu estou falando com ele agora por e-mail e ele me enviou esta foto dele com Selene!! Ele confirmou que eles estarão realmente se casando!!!!!!! Fantástico! Ele disse que está em processo de adoção de Selene agora mesmo! Fantástico!
