Umbanda y Macumberos

What a week, it started out great and ended bad but great at the same time. The work went really well this week! And then I got sick for a day (now I'm fine) and everything and everyone was progressing great. Then we got to Sunday and literally no one came to Church! There weren’t even that many members there. We don’t really know what happened but it was tough. We’ve been praying really hard and we need to talk to everyone again and help them progress. We also found some great people this week too, so we hope they progress. 

Now here is the part of why I named this Umbanda and macumberos! First because it’s Halloween so... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Also because this week, last night actually, something weird happened! Woooo! jaja And it’s not the first time in my mission things like this have happened either. When I say weird I mean like bad spirits weird. 

Macumberos are basically Satan worshippers or people who invite evil spirits into their lives and most don’t believe in God. So anyway, I’ve dealt with things like this here in Argentina. And for some reason I was in an area, Don Torcuato, that is known for stuff like this in our mission. I’ve had experiences with witnessing the power of the Priesthood at work, and yesterday, we did just that. My companion and I did divisions with the members last night. Elder Ellis went with a couple members and I did too. My companion had plans to go visit a couple references so he went out with the members and did that. We, in the other hand, were sent to a person’s house who is a sister of a recent convert. When we got there we talked to this family and we had plans to give their house a blessing because weird things were going on in the house. Lights were turning on, they heard things, and they saw and felt things going on in their house. As we talked we found out that the mother of the wife was in the Umbanda, and she felt like all her life she’s been followed by stuff like that. So long story short, we blessed the house and gave them a Book of Mormon, but the weirdest part was that this guy’s wife, was acting weird, especially when we started talking about God and the Holy Ghost. We didn’t feel well even after we blessed the house. So we gave a blessing to each and every member of their family, the husband, son, and wife. 

While I was giving the blessing to the wife I basically said, “I command any evil spirit within you to leave”. At the moment, I felt the Spirit really strongly, and she started crying. It was an amazing and scary experience! We left there by giving them a Book of Mormon and inviting them to Church and to come closer to God. That’s a Halloween experience right there! jajaja I know the power of the Priesthood is real, this is just one of the experiences that I’ve had that have added to my testimony. 

Our plans for this week look pretty good. We have a lot of plans to work with a lot of different members this week too. That’s how the plans go, today we aren’t really doing anything too crazy. We are just writing, then playing ping-pong and going to lunch.

E que semana! Começou boa e terminou ruim, mas boa ao mesmo tempo. O trabalho correu muito bem esta semana! Eu fiquei doente por um dia (agora estou bem) e tudo e todos estavam progredindo bem. Em seguida, tivemos o domingo e, literalmente, ninguém veio à igreja! Não havia nem muitos membros lá. Nós realmente não sabemos o que aconteceu, mas foi difícil. Temos orado muito e temos falado com todos novamente e estamos os ajudando a progredir. Encontramos também algumas ótimas pessoas esta semana também, então nós esperamos que progridam.

Agora aqui é a parte do porque que eu nomeei o post essa semana de Umbanda e macumbeiros! Primeiro, porque é o Dia das Bruxas assim... FELIZ DIA DAS BRUXAS!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Também porque esta semana, na noite passada, na verdade, algo estranho aconteceu! Woooo! jaja E não é a primeira vez na minha missão que coisas como esta aconteceram também. Quando digo estranho quero dizer, como maus espíritos estranhos.

Macumbeiros são basicamente adoradores de satanas ou pessoas que convidam os maus espíritos em suas vidas e não acreditam em Deus. Então, eu já lidei com coisas como estas aqui na Argentina. E por alguma razão eu estive em uma área, Don Torcuato, que é conhecida por coisas como esta em nossa missão. Eu tive experiências onde pude aumentar meu testemunho do poder do Sacerdócio no trabalho missionário, e ontem, aconteceu exatamente isso. 

O meu companheiro e eu fizemos divisões com os membros ontem à noite. Élder Ellis foi com um casal membros e eu também. O meu companheiro tinha planos para ir visitar algumas referências e ele saiu com os membros e fez isso. Eu e os membros que vieram comigo, por outro lado, fomos enviados para `a casa de uma pessoa que é irmã de um recém-converso. Quando chegamos lá, conversamos com a família e tinhamos planos para dar uma benção em seu lar, porque coisas estranhas estavam acontecendo na casa. Enquanto estavamos com eles, as luzes acendiam e apagavam, eles ouviram coisas, e eu mesmo vi e senti coisas acontecendo em sua casa. Enquanto conversávamos, descobrimos que a mãe da esposa faz parte da Umbanda, e ela sentia-se como toda a sua vida ela foi perseguida por coisas assim. Então, para encurtar a longa história, abençoamos a casa e demo-lhes um Livro de Mórmon. Mas, a parte mais estranha foi que a esposa desse cara estava agindo muito estranho, especialmente quando começamos a falar sobre Deus, e o Espírito Santo. Nós não nos sentimos bem, mesmo depois que abençoamos a casa. Por isso, demos uma bênção a cada um da família, o marido, filho e esposa.

Enquanto eu estava dando a bênção na esposa eu literalmente disse, "Eu ordeno a qualquer espírito maligno dentro de você que saia agora". Naquele momento, senti o Espírito realmente forte, e ela começou a chorar. Foi uma experiência incrível e assustadora ao mesmo tempo! Saímos de lá, demo-lhes um Livro de Mórmon e os convidamos a ir `a Igreja e a aproximarem-se de Deus. Essa foi uma experiência de Halloween ali mesmo! jajaja Eu sei que o poder do Sacerdócio é real, esta foi apenas uma das experiências que eu tive que contribuíram para o meu testemunho.

Nossos planos para esta semana são muito bons. Temos um monte de planos para trabalhar com muitos membros diferentes esta semana também. Hoje nossos planos são que não estamos fazendo nada muito louco. Estamos apenas escrevendo, em seguida, vamos jogar ping-pong e e almoçar.
